Poor catfish!

If he didn't come like that from the pet store, then you obviously have at least one nipper in there. Could be anybody, really, from that gourami to the tetra. You'll need to keep an eye on it and if any appear to become a problem, you might want to consider removing them from the tank. As well as that, keep an eye on the health of all your fish - particularly their fins. The smallest tear can lead to fin rot which can lead to a mass die-off.

Which reminds me - you probably should have stocked a little slower. Although your parameters are probably fine, the more bio-load you add in one go, the more chance there is something can go wrong. You might want to consider a quarantine tank. We have a small tank which is set up permanently for quarantine of new fish (for a couple of weeks, to ensure they're disease-free), as well as a smaller tank as the 'infirmary' so unhealthy fish can be separated and treated.

Anyway ... the tank looks great. Love the plants! I'd like to see a shot of the whole thing. :)

I actually noticed it was swimming strange while it was still in the bag, I had assumed it was disorientated from the trip home. Until I noticed that it was still swimming the same way an hour later and it was then I noticed it had no tail fins.

Well, I didn't get them all in one go, there's a few types of fancy guppy I'd like to get (I saw one that almost looked like someone had painted a picture of fire on it's tail fins, very awesome looking). As to a photo of the whole thing. here you go:

And yes, all the plants are real :D

So, I'm wondering how long you're going to be able to stave off massive algae growth in that tank, and if so, how.

Supposedly, making sure to not over-feed is how you do it.

Got three more fishies today! I think that'll do for now.
Image
This little guy's pretty cool, the coloring on his tail looks like fire (which looks even more fire-like when he's wiggling it), which gives the impression that the fish the the fish is propelled by rocket power!

Image
In the shop, these guys didn't really catch my attention, they looked pretty plain. Until the guy in the shop pointing out something to me. When the light hits their scales at the right angle, they turn a brilliant deep blue color! You can see this effect rather well in this photo thanks to the flash.

Image
Paradise Fish. Supposedly these guys are somewhat aggressive. Not in my case, as soon as this one entered the tank, my Gourami, which has never acted aggressive before, decided he really didn't like this new fish and has been chasing the Paradise Fish around the tank and nipping at him! They seem to have established a pecking order, as now the Gourami just follows close without nipping at the Paradise.

165L of fish-keeping goodness  Not to worry, I took the biological filter and old water from the previous aquarium, so the bactera cycle was all ready to go ;)

Also got a few new fish:

Thread revival!

A week ago, Monday night, I went with a friend of mine and his wife to go check out a pair of dachshund pups. They have a few dogs, and one of them is a little mini dachshund with dapple coloration that, when combined with a regular brown dachshund is supposed to pop out little Isabel pups, some sort of beautiful and desirable coloration I have yet to see.

Anyway, they were going to buy them from a couple who realized they couldn't be arsed to take care of them and be trashy people. They were two brothers from the same litter who had fleas and whose tiny sweaters and collars were way too small. They had to get both, which was the deal, and they decided to go ahead and rescue them from that home, and they would just have to find another home for one of the brothers. I'd been thinking about this kind of thing for a while, just not very seriously, and I said I'd go ahead and take the other one off their hands.

Thus... Here's George! Mini dachshund, about 12 weeks old. He's adorable and full of personality and now flea-free and loving life. He's my little buddy. He is napping, curled up on my lap as I type this. I really like how he had this cool little Rhodesian Ridgeaback thing going on from just behind his shoulders up to his head :)

He is sooooo adorable! I love him Eric! If you ever take a road trip to the east coats feel free to bring him with you!

I have a soft spot for mini Dachshunds. If I didn't have my perfect dog, that is what I would probably get. Enroll him in some kind of puppy training as soon as you can. It will be well worth it. I have had dogs all my life and I still take them to puppy training. Not only for the training, but for the social aspect as well.

Doxie! Dam deacon, now you're making me want to go out and have a pair of dachs again. Just remember they are conniving little demons and you need to watch your placement of chairs in relation to counters and tables with food on them.

I'm finding it somewhat funny that a guy with that huge truck and Jeep has a mini Dachshund. Don't get me wrong, Doxies in general are adorable and I want to pick George up and hug him to pieces. He just doesn't fit the type of dog I'd figured you'd have. I think I pictured you with a Rott or Doberman. Kudos for rescuing the little guy and giving him the type of home he deserves. Give him kisses and tummy scratches from me.

Deacon: I see your one puppy, and raise you five puppies!

They're not mine sadly, my uncle's dog had puppies and I saw them on Christmas.

Heh, Aza, what's wrong with that one's rat-like tail that you're grabbing onto there in that pic? :P But seriously, what, blue heelers? That's what they look like. Mean little shits if you piss them off...

I like big dogs, and I've always really liked big burly boxers, but career wise and personally I'm not in a place to truly handle and properly care for a large breed. Little dogs are a helluvalot easier to deal with in so many ways, and they don't chew your trees in half (and chair and table legs). Plus, the little guy was so adorable and cool, I couldn't just let him be sold off to someone else :) I wasn't really looking for a dog, but I'd been "thinking about it" casually for a long time, so hey, it's just happened to work out this way.

And I think a puppy school wouldn't be bad. I've got him mostly housebroken already, and I hope to install before too long the new doggie door I got for him. Together with big wide baby gates for the openings to my tiled kitchen, I should be able to leave him alone with the crate open during the day when I'm at work.

And adciv, George's "Aunt", Shadow, the little dark dapple that they got George's brother to breed eventually, she's a counter ninja. I don't know how she does it, but she'll end up on there eventually. It's hilarious because she's a pretty close match for John and Tiff's granite countertop, especially in low lighting, so she freezes if you come in, like a statue, and you won't even know she's there until she ends up licking her chops or something, and that little flash of pink gives her away

Are you saying I have the arms of a little girl? Because that's actually my little cousin's arm in the photo. The pups are mixed, they don't even know who the father is.
