Something neat I found a while ago:

Taurus 44 ten revolver
Image

a .410 revolver. They get around the whole AOW thing by being nominally chambered in .45 Colt, and having a rifled barrel. Quite possibley the ultimate snake gun.

Wouldn't the snakeshot mess up the rifling after a while?

Snakes? I wonder how one of those would work for home defense. Though if I was using .410, I'd rather have a Saiga ... semiautomatic .410 built of an AK47 base? Kickass! Plus, very little recoil, so you can Mozambique Drill someone with a shotgun. :)

Heh, that would be awesome if two Air Marshalls brought those on a plane and suddenly yelled out "There are motherfuckin' snakes on the motherfuckin' plane!" Or maybe I've just watched too many Daily Show youtube clips...

How snakes work for self-defense, or snake shot? Snake shot would be worse than rock salt I'm thinking.

Considering that the chilled lead shot and plastic shot cup are both significantly softer than the barrel? I kinda doubt it.

What were they getting for them, if you know offhand? I'm kinda curious.

A .410 for home defense? Taken up the pipe have we?

You want to defend yourself, get a 12 gauge.

I had assumed snake shot was just a derrogative term for the .410 load. And yeah, I'd meant a .410.

Though, heh, it would be kinda funny to throw vipers at intruders. "Snakes on a criminal!" ... heh heh.

Who claimed you did say that?

I was pointing out a problem with your implied reasoning that people living on military bases carry weapons. I took no issues with the rest of your statement.

I actually didn't look at the price HTRN. I know that Fuggle pointed out a revovler that looked exactly (or damn near close to exactly) like that while we were at the gun show. My reaction, if I remember correctly, was: " :o  ...awesome"

12 Gauge for Home Defense. Yes. And Clay shooting. A good twelve gauge is like fine silver. You don't want to use it only for big company, or only once a year. Bring it out a few times, have fun.

Also, on the subject of fun ammo:

So, even if it's "not 12ga", how good is .410 for taking down people?
