December 7th 2006 - Gamecube

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

5-15 bucks is a good amount of money to save. especially when the return policy makes it better than buying a new game. You can't take new games back because "you didn't like the game" and they are supposed to test it (they don't always, but they are supposed to). I mean, seriously, go ahead and keep wasting your 5-15 bucks on a crappier deal. I just thought I'd inform you.

He's griping at people for shopping where they want to shop. Kind of like...say, John Edwards maybe?
Again, what? And who? Goku? If so - what's wrong with having a problem with a place and a reason not to shop there, anyway?

I just think it's pretty pretentious to talk down to folks who like to shop at a place, just because he doesn't like to.

No, he's stating a fact that for people who, like him, expect their games to be top notch, Gamestop is not the place to shop. He's not calling you stupid for shopping there. You're reading that into his argument entirely. He never once talked down to anyone.

And seriously - a John Edwards comparison? Where the fuck did that come from? Did John Edwards beat you up in middle school or something?

You just have to pick what you get, I suppose. I'll agree, some of the used games I've gotten from Gamestop aren't of the best quality, but sometimes I'll get pretty good ones.

Honestly though, the only way to make sure you get pristine games every time is to buy new games. Getting a scratched disc is an inherent risk of buying used games, and you'll just have to be careful. You get what you pay for, pretty much.

*Title edited by Liz. "The Comic" is not an appropriate title as it doesn't share anything with today's comic for reference.**[/quote]

Up untill a week ago there was never any reference to the contents of the comic in the title of the thread, that was the whole point I thought, to avoid spoilers.

The point is to try to make the title more than just the date, but without spoiling the comic. You can give the title a name without spoiling the comic - the easiest way is to find the title in the FIRST panel. Not the last. The last panel is where the punchline is. :P

"The Comic" isn't really a descriptor, though. That's why she changed it.

Why even sell an old console? :shifty:

And most of all....why trade off the games.

It came from his 6 year old making fun of his "friends" that happen to shop at Wal-Mart.

Not even a Gamestop here in the desert I live in anyway. Like any used product, you should examine it before you buy it. Used games are not all crap. Sorry if you guys are getting burned by not checking stuff before you purchase it.

Personally I think all this thread title crap is a bit too anal and silly.

i love Gamestop, even if they don't pay enough for the games and such that they buy from gamers. i mean, if you are cheap and money is tight, then the used games are pretty much the only way to get games. i bought a used game for $5.00 where a new copy would be around $20. even if i'm only saving $5.00 by buying a used game that's money that i can use elsewhere, and when you're broke, an extra $5 is a big deal.

I prefer Gamestop to EB Games. Why do they feel the need to completely cover the game cases in "PRE-OWNED" stickers?

Here they are owned by the same company! One is on the lower level of the mall, the other on the upper! I dislike EB, though...the people aren't nearly as nice!
