He refuses to retire, and saves anything that he can from being thrown away, even going so far as to collect the little single-use Tabasco sauce bottles that would get scrapped at work for some health code thing. He doesn't like the stuff, but he sends them home in quart-sized freezer bags for my parents. I recently passed one to my friend as a gesture of thanks for being there for so many years.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

Oh my! And I thought my grandparent(s) were bad! (my grandfather is gone now...) They hadn't/haven't slept in their bed in 30 years at least - because it's covered with stuff. The room is full of stuff. They have a parking garage (separate from the house) that is also full front to back, floor to ceiling with STUFF. There's an aisle down the middle for walking, that's it. Just what kind of stuff do they have, you might ask? Everything and anything under the sun. My grandmother goes to the stores and buys whatever they have on sale, whether she needs it or not, because she might one day - you never know. My uncle & aunt have decided that when she dies, they're just going to bring in an auctioneer and an antiquer and have them liquidate the place. I guess it must be because of when they were living. He was in his 70's at least when he died about 10 years ago, and she's close to 80 now.
