I didn't mean 'not suitable for', I meant 'not properly appreciated by'. It's like serving gourmet meals to the fricken' dog.

Oh come off it. He meant mental health as opposed to physical health and you are intelligent enough to pick up on that without making a post like that.
Wait, okay so he is nitpicking on Blaze for not saying the kid's mental health ? Sounds like he was objecting to the idea that an 8 year-old kid playing GTA is not hazordous to his adolescent development or he is assessing the physical health of the kid as the only important aspect, ignoring mental health. The latter take on his statement was not really responded to, but the idea is still just as idiotic.

I don't agree with that right there. Some kids can handle it, some can't. My nephew is 6 and he plays games with me all the time. Ghost Recon, Call of Duty, he knows it's just a game. I don't think he's going to bring an AK to his 1st grade classroom anytime soon.
It's not as simple as monkey see, monkey do. I'm fairly sure that games like CoD get M ratings because it desensitises children and makes them more antisocial. Some children are different to others, but I'd say for the most part, a 6 year old shouldn't be playing those sorts of games. Also, as part of what Scorp said, they are way too young to appreciate something so complex. When I was six, I was happy enough finding bees to agitate with my friends or trying to catch rabbits. I see parents buying their 6 year olds xbox 360s and sigh. "pearls before swine"...

He appreciates it just fine, he loves to play. However the consoles aren't "his." His dad plays the 360 just as much, if not more. He's an average kid, plays football, baseball, and basketball. He has friends at school, he does fine in his classes. And he plays video games.

Just because he doesn't know how to use complex commands doesn't mean anything. He enjoys it. Isn't that what games are for?

I'm sure a kid can enjoy a $500 shirt, but does that mean that such a magnificent shirt is fit to be worn by someone who would get a similar level of enjoyment from a $5 shirt?

Why not? Just because he enjoys the cheaper shirt doesn't mean he should be deemed unfit to wear the $500 shirt. That comparison is like saying someone is unfit to eat a prime cut steak because he also likes to eat burgers.
Comic books: Are ruined. Parents and censors ruined them. Don't know why? Look up "Comic Book Code" on Google, you'll find out why. The parents and censors made it so main stream comics are EXTREMELY limited. You can't have certain plot lines, you can't explore certain characters, you can't write certain stories. Fringe and independant comics don't follow these rules, and if a comic is translated to film these arcs can be explored (example: dirty cops) but in book form, no. This code probably had a HUGE part in the downfall of comics.
You ever wonder why Spiderman has web-shooters instead of organic webbing (like the movie?)

The analogy doesn't really apply since the person can like both hamburgers and steak, but it is quite a different thing to appreciate the steak over the burger... well unless it's a damn good burger that is. :p

Not really getting into the discussion of whether a kid can appreciate a system. Just thought that was a bad analogy.

That doesn't mean they can appreciate a good steak. A person can like both Richard Scarry and Rembrandt, but if that's just because "look at the pretty colors daddy!" then it's not in a way that indicates they can appreciate a Picasso.

Then again, I don't agree with the notion that kids can't appreciate fun video games and cartoons. I mean, I think we all played Super Mario Bros as kids, no? Wasn't that fun as hell?
