That was pretty much my point.

That doesn't mean they can appreciate a good steak. A person can like both Richard Scarry and Rembrandt, but if that's just because "look at the pretty colors daddy!" then it's not in a way that indicates they can appreciate a Picasso.

Then again, I don't agree with the notion that kids can't appreciate fun video games and cartoons. I mean, I think we all played Super Mario Bros as kids, no? Wasn't that fun as hell?

but it is quite a different thing to appreciate the steak over the burger...
... and that was mine... My point, more explored, is that a kid can eat a McDonald's burger and think it is just as fine and good as a premium cut of steak, making it illogical to get a kid a premium cut of steak. Unless, you do think that it is appropriate to get your kid a six-year-old kid a cut of premium steak, instead of, y'know, what's on the kid's menu. I actually think that is precisely why there is a kid's menu.

But my point was to point out that the point made with the T-shirt analogy. Why should someone who likes wearing a $5 shirt be unfit to wear a $500 shirt? You can like both. AzraeL's statement had nothing to do with appreciation. Sometimes you may feel like eating a steak and other times you may want to eat a steak.

O Rly? I know what you meant, but that was hilarious. Anyways, I think I get what you're getting at. You do see that it isn't a very smart move to buy a person a $500 dollar shirt, when they can't tell it any different from a $5 shirt? Think of it this way, it wouldn't be a good idea to get a completely cherried-out Chevy Bel-Air for someone that knows nothing about cars, right?

EDIT: But on whether or not it should be... illegal?... to own said $5 shirt, if this is what you're getting at, yes I believe that to be ridiculous, but there are a lot of other substantial reasons why a 6 year-old shouldn't be playing GTA:San Andreas, for example.

So, are we past the idea that cartoons and games aren't for kids?

Some of them are. Some of them aren't. Some of them are suitable for kids if not for them.

I must be missing something. Everything looks like it's spelled properly and all. It doesn't make much sense, but...

I misspelled the second steak; it should have been spelled burger. :D

I was going to put the two steaks in bold, but that works better, and has made me laugh yet again.

EDIT: Just got what you were saying. I don't think typos are simply misspellings. They are unintentional mess-ups that would not have been normally made, as opposed to unintentional mess-ups that the person thinks are right.
