Rants and Raves of a SPPACEY nature.

Post by StruckingFuggle » Wed Jan 10, 2007 4:36 am

Now leaving for SPPACE orbit, an r&r / stupid question / comment thread for stuff that seems to be related to SPPACE or will likely spark discussions and the like. Not a normal SPPACE thread, but rather a thread that more belongs elsewhere - maybe R&R. If so, mods, move it there?

But I decided to be proactive and make a thread for people to post little things not necessarily worthy of their own threads, especially rants and raves, so we don't clog up the precious preexisting rantettes and ravettes thread with any sort of discussion.

Enjoy. :)

Basically, small rants and raves that will spark miniature debates that ruin the R&R thread?

Okay here's one: Road Repair - Why the Hell do they have to do it during Rushhour? They should be doing it in the Middle of night to minimize traffic problems.

I hope you don't mean in residential areas, HTRN :)

As far as freeway repair, it is usually done at night around here.

Well, the best time to do residiential would be the middle of the day, from about nine or ten to about four, and maybe from seven to ten or so. Not during rush hour.

No, I'm talking major roads of any sort.

Around here we seem to have the 7-1 ratio going - 1 guy working, 7 guys watching.

At least they did something that made sense when they shut down the Outerbridge a coupla years ago at 10PM and did the work until 6AM.

I strongly suspect the reason it isn't done more involves unions and contracts.

hahaha
Rush hour here around Vancouver starts about 7:00 AM and ends about 10:00AM... and it starts at about 3:30 PM, finally dieing down for the day around 7:00 PM.

I really hate the road system here

That's roughly what it is here.

Except I think there's a might more traffic. :)

For some reason, Pennsylvania always shuts Interstate 80 down to one lane for a few miles on holiday weekends, causing it to back up for twenty miles.

Delaware does the same thing with the only road in their entire state, Interstate 95. Damn them. Worthless little bugger of a state.

The other 7 guys are too busy smoking joints behind the truck to work.

That's not a joke. Some high, drunk bastard on a work crew threw a liquor bottle at our car when I was little, dented the door and damn near smashed the window, which would've cut my sister up something terrible.

And so from the behaviour one individual you generalize a serious statement about all road construction workers, eh?

No, but when Dad got out of the car and the others stepped up and threatened to "kick his ass" if he didn't shut up, go away, and mind his own business, I began to suspect, you know?
