Fuck Aqua. Seriously. That's surely a joke nomination. But hooray for Spin Doctors!

Also, Sophira, historial important != good music. Witness, also, Elvis. Seriously. Covers of Elvis (esp. by Dwight Yokam) are far better than the originals - though Elvish is more historically important than pretty much anyone that's covered him.
Elvis is neat, but there's a reason I didn't nominate him. For one, I don't think he's as good as plenty others. He's a groundbreaker, not necessarily the singer of music I can really groove to.
I was just under the impression we wanted a group/singer that produces(ed) plenty of actual good music?
(I.e. not just groups that make us giggle or say, "Wow, now that guy's got class.")
I'll support Queen, too. That makes four.

Another vote for Queen and against Dylan. Saw him in concert - couldn't understand a goddamned thing. Yucky on the Elvis too - if I never hear another Elvis song I'll be happy.
At the moment I love Blue October - I haven't heard anything yet that I didn't like from them. I also like REO Speedwagon - I used to listen to their stuff all the time while growing up.

woah woah woah
How, when, and why did The Boss get thrown out of the ring?
James Taylor
Journey -Yes
Pink Floyd -Yes but I'm eliminating them largely due to the stoners that spend 8 hours a day listening to Dark side of the moon
Billy Joel - We didn't start the fire. 'Nough said.
Frank Sinatra -I respect the man, and I like the man, but I don't love the man. No
Arethra Franklin ^
Louis Armstrong ^
Chuck Berry ^
Don McLean *coughonehitwondercough* No
Bob Dylan I'm saying no out of principle.
REO Speedwagon - I don't want to sleep, I just want to keep on listening to REO
Elton John -Love the man, but I really hate English Rose
John Coltrane - I can't argue with that, but I will anyways.
Queen - anyone that says no is obviously a pinko commie
David Bowie - ^
The Mars Volta- fuck No
I'm going to throw the following in the ring.
Foreigner
Boston
CCR
The Eagles
Cheap Trick
Bon Jovi
Tom Petty
WtF is wrong with YOUR ears? Her vocal style, as well as that of most black women of her age, is one of the worst things brought into music in ever. I mean, it could stand up there was worst, up until gangsta, or maybe emo.
She's just got SOUL which is ANNOYING. Dylan, like Cohen and Rob Dougan and Tom Waits, has character.
Woah.
What about those that came before Franklin, like Billie Holliday and Ella Fitzgerald? Were they just soul too?

Rors, Louis Armstrong played an instrument. He played it extremely well. He was not just a voice.
