jeez.....

i'm beginning to think that my school experience was very different from the norm.

Although i believe that these kids shouldn't be having sex, my main thought is wondering what has happened to schools? I don't think that teachers should HAVE to be there every second. When i was in 5th grade if the teacher stepped out to do an errand we might have started talking but most of the time we had enough fear/respect of the teacher to stick to work he/she gave us.

Has this evaporated? Was my school experience that abnormal?

And my thoughts on underage sex? I think people should wait until they're emotionally ready for that. This means GENERALLY waiting until the late teens IMO. This is a relatively modern concept, at least for gals. Until fairly recently as soon as a gal started bleeding she was married off. That's between 9 and 13 usually. Only recently did that get pushed back, and people began to think that women shouldn't have sex until at least their late teens.

Nope, that's exactly how my school was, too. I honestly can't imagine a place where life is like this... or the homes these kind of children come from.

The kind of home where barrage after barrage of anti-discipline 'behavior training' is fired at parents constantly. Where kids are reasoned with at age 3 and spend time in a chair instead of rubbing a red bottom as a result of breaking the rules.

Where young parents are taught to be friends with kids instead of parents, and schools constantly undermine the authority of parents who do not embrace the PC side of issues.

The kind of home where the schools teach kids how to use condoms and how to get abortions without telling your parents.

Don't blow this off like you have 4 sets of parents that are bad. Parents are the most important influence, but not the only one. Someone needs to find out WTF the parents are up to here, yes. But the teachers fucked up. Badly. Being a poor, pitiful, doing-it-only-for-the-kids teacher is no excuse for being incompetent. Good teachers deserve a pedestal. Bad ones deserve a pink slip.

Doesn't teaching safe sex include how to use condoms?

And I've heard news about laws related to parental consent concerning abortions. I've not specifically looked into the issue, but apparently there are lawmakers that are concerned about it. And I've heard from friends that it IS possible for a minor to get an abortion without parental consent.

I'm unclear if it's related to the school system at all though.

That part is probably a stretch, but the stories I've heard the teens are put into contact with the agencies through school councilors, etc. I will try to find something a little more concrete.

The condom thing is very much true, and a staple in sex-ed programs these days, along with handing them out to students who ask for them.

On the other foot, here we have a school going a bit too far in the other direction.

This used to mean you got to spend an afternoon washing every desk the teacher could access. Now I guess it means jail time.
