Nagin -- How is this guy even elected?

Post by Bigity » Mon Mar 19, 2007 12:18 pm

Conspiracy.

Now he thinks the hurricane was a plot to get alot of black people out of New Orleans so he couldn't be elected again. Off his meds?

Which is more sad?

A: That he thinks the hurricane was a plot against him.

B: What this says about the people who voted him in to begin with.

C: That if the hurricane was a plot against him, it means God doesn't want him in office.

His opponent must have worn a tin-foil hat. I can honestly understand the presence of distrust and animosity towards whites from... Pretty much everyone else, but there's a fine line between reasonable caution and paranoid schizophrenia.

Well, not that fine, it's actually pretty thick, Nagin just made a mad-dash over it.

I find this line interesting:

"which had infuriated many whites and African Americans."

I was struck by the fact that whites is uncapitalized and African Americans is a proper noun. Wouldn't the line have been better

...infuriated people across the racial spectrum...

Has "Black" become a taboo word now too?

Yes, just like the term "Caucasian," apparently.
The statement below is false.

This statement is true.

HTRN, your sig is getting too high vertically. Can you please try to shorten it up? See my sig for an example of how to still give credit to the person who said it and link to the post in question.

Nowhere in the article does he say that the hurricane was a plot against him. He believes that the reaction to the hurricane is a plot against blacks in general.

Note that I'm not defending him, as he's still an idiot. But at least criticize him for the things that actually happened.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

For god's sake "blacks" is in the article's title.

I do love the "What happened in New Orleans could happen anywhere" line. Forgive me if I don't run out and get hurricane insurance, seeing as how I'm not on the coast and all. :P

Except... you do realize that when he said "what happened in New Orleans could happen anywhere", he wasn't talking about getting hit by a hurricane, right?

Yes, but out of context it's quite funny. Besides, the line does imply that there's some sort of massive government conspiracy to get natural disasters to cause demographic shifts. Yes, I'm sure it was all a plot to take you down, seeing as how the Mayor of New Orleans has such prominent political power and all.
