Correct me if I'm wrong, but at least in cats, doesn't wet food contribute to obesity? At least that's what I heard. I can't even remember the source, though.
i know that cats PREFER wet food. It tastes better.

I'm just glad we buy dry food for our dogs. I don't want them to get sick.

i can read cat behavior very well. Well, house cat behavior anyways. Cat's are VERY picky about what they eat, and I noticed that they seem to prefer wet food to dry food.

I prefer steak and lobster at every meal with a big bucket of assorted icecreams to follow it up, but I don't eat it every day. Don't raise them as though they have a choice, and they won't mind. Mostly because they won't know the difference.

we don't give them wet food, for a few reasons:

1) it's more expensive
2) one of our cats is... older and needs special food to keep his... urinary tract... at the right ph because he's prone to infection

the only time I have ever given my cats wet food is when I had a REALLY old cat (like 20) and she had lost a bunch of teeth and had trouble with the dry food.

Cats can't taste sweet. Any cats, including the big cats. That's why they evolved to be strictly carnivorous. The reason they seem to "prefer" wet food is that it's usually saltier. Salt they taste very well.

If you want to feed them dry food and they don't seem to like it, sprinkle some soy sauce or something salty on it first.

Interesting... That goes for the similar reason why they lick your skin as well =)

Interesting news on this: China finds that at least two companies intentionally contaminated pet food with fake protein(-like) chemicals to bolster profits by selling low-protein feed with high amounts of cheap, fake protein as though it were high-protein feed.

I've been following the recall pretty closely (shocking, I know) and just wanted to point out that the list of recalled foods is enormous and does include kibble as well as canned.

This is the best place to see the updated list.

Those of you who felt safe because you feed dry food might want to take a look just in case. :(

My cat hates the proper stuff sold over here, Whiskers. I just get her five dollar boxes of 12 sachets from Aldi, and she snarfs them down. My wallet is thrilled, considering 3 sachets of whiskers costs what the Aldi ones would.

They just get turned into cabinets and furniture.

I dunno, being a kitchen cabinet wouldn't be so bad.

I could stare at you when you come into the kitchen wearing your Spiderman pjs at 3am and start rummaging for food.

What makes you think I wear PJs at all?
