Dr Who - new series, new assistant.

Post by Rorschach » Sun Apr 01, 2007 8:01 pm

Well, nerds.
What did you think?

Obviously I hate her with all my heart and soul and want our beloved Rose back more than anything but I don't think it helped that the first episode was a bit crap really.

Rumours of The Master and more Dalekness help however.

Come on, now, Rorsnatch, you can find love deep down in your heart...

It's a stab in the dark, but I'm guessing you didn't watch this.

I hated the new assistant in the trailers, but have come to the conclusion that they somehow picked the worse possible way to sell the character.

I found the episode itself good but clearly a step behind fantastic.

They've stopped showing Dr Who over here (and they wouldn't show it the same time you'd see it anyway) so I wouldn't have a clue.

Who is playing the new assistant?

Here's she is, Canoe
Freema Agyeman
The doctor's kissed her already, in only the first show.
She's clearly a dirty stop-out.

Wait, didn't she already play a chick who got Cybermanized? Is her new chracter from an alternate universe, or is this some sort of Sergio Leone, one-actor-multiple-roles thing?

One-actor-multiple-roles thing. Basically the new companion is the cousin of the chick who got Cybermanized.

I figure at least cut her some slack. It'll be hard when your character has to fill the shoes of Rose. But hey, at least this is a girl with an education and not some welfare mooching chav.

To be fair to Rose she had a job until Eccleston's Doctor blew it up.

So, I haven't watched Dr. Who since PBS stopped running it back when I was a kid. Do any American networks still run it?

OOH. I'll check to see if that's included in my package. WAY back in the day, Dr. Who caused me to actually donate to PBS during one of their seemingly endless cycle of support drives. They probably spent more money trying to convince me to send them MORE money, than the 5 bucks they got out of my 9 year old piggy bank.

New assistant is meh, scriptwriting has decidedly lost my interest. I shall pass judgement after next week's cyberpunk offering, though.
