Table Top Minature War Games

Post by BloodGrey » Wed May 09, 2007 5:25 pm

I play em... does anybody else? I've got myself a good sized Warmachine army (something like 1k pts), a Mordheim crew, and an overstuffed Starwars army.

Used to vaguely play warhammer both 40k and fantasy, more into the actual modelling of them rather than playing at the moment, got enough games to play at the moment :)

Not anymore, but I've played Warhammer and 40k for many years. Also, Necromunda, which IMO is far more fun than any of them.

I've had more fun playing Privateer games than i have any of the others. Never got to into the Warhammers simply because i didn't want to pay so much for plastic, ya know?

What's Privateer?

Privateer Press is the company that came out with Warmachine and Hordes. They use nothing but metal for their figs, so when you pay $50 for a 1lb "warjack", you don't feel so crummy about the $50. They got popular for their Iron Kingdoms fantasy game.

For a gallery of some of their figs (sorted by faction, then further sorted by unit type) try this link: Warmachine Figs Gallery
And for their Hordes figs, try this one:
Hordes Figs

Both games are fairly new, Hordes being much newer, and made to be compatible with Warmachine, though it is a standalone game.

I personally play 40K, though I have been tempted to pick up Warmachine, it looks like a really good game honestly.

I used to play Eldar in 40k, but got bored.

That, and the shrieking of my wallet kept me up at night.

Actually yeah. Warcasters can control up to a certain number of Warjacks. Kill the Warcaster, kill the Warjacks. The other units still go on though, unless you are playing by special "Kill the Warcaster" rules. It's fun, simple, painfully expensive, but well worth it.

I am currently assembling my frist army, 750 points of pure Eldar Harlequin awesomeness. Though I'm going to need 2000 points to participate in the weekly Boards at the shop. :?

Dark Reapers, Banshees and a Farseer with Psychic Storm is everyone's friend.
Mostly because you just splat things from a distance and scatter units. Or hide a Wraithlord somewhere for those nasty little tanks. Or a Fire Prism. And anything that comes close is hammered. Except Terminators. I hate Terminators. Stupid invul armour.

Eldar are cheese, harleys are like super cheese sauce with extra cheese on it.

Ultramarines!
