See, the problem here is, I can't think of any reason where it's ever okay to put an infant to death, unless, MAYBE, it's going to live in extreme pain for a week and then die anyway. Seems to me that no matter HOW rare it is, it's still shoving the problem under the rug. The truly problematic should be cared for, not discarded. It's not THEIR fault, and how is anyone to know if they are capable of feeling hapiness?
Around here, we do not necessarily keep those ALIVE that are in such conditions, but we don't actively kill them.
Please note, I'm not condemning a culture here, or accusing anything. Just commenting.[/quote]

It’s humane to think that it’s not okay to take an infants life. Taking ones life is not only taking ones life. How young it may be, it does have parents and it does have family, so it’s not one only one life that is ended and everything else is unaffected by it.
As I stated before it only happens in extreme cases and only if the child is mentally/physically challenged in a way that it does not have a chance to experience an joyful life. This might sound cruel to you, but letting them live an extremely painful life where it’s really, really, really unlikely they will ever be able to do anything just to sooth your conscience is, in my opinion, even more cruel.
Oh, by the way I would like to note that it’s not something the Dutch people are proud of. A couple of years ago there was a huge thing in the newspapers that doctors refused to use euthanasia in these cases. The reason I mentioned this is that I wanted to note that we aren’t as utterly devoid of things like compassion and charity as Deacon is
Euthanasia will only be used on infants as a last resort and to be honest I don’t really think it’s such a bad thing.
