the "run through super mario brothers as bowrser" challange in the events should be considered crule and unusual punishment...

I finished off about 50% of the event matches as well as finishing all of SSE (just need to get a few more % for a 100% rating).

Needless to say, I'm beyond hooked.

I wound up having to choose between Super Mario Galaxy and renewing my Xbox Live gold membership.

Xbox won. I'll be back for some SSBB action someday, just probably not for at least a few weeks.

Deacon, it's posts like that that make me love you. Please post as such more often.

Game-related-rant: I believe we're going to dinner soon so I can't load up Brawl now. Also, I left my GC controllers (preferred gaming controller) in my apartment (home for the break) because I only brought the Wii so Fuggle could play his GC games on it. Still have one classic controller and two Wii-Motes, so it'll all work out. Will just have to be outside my comfort zone.

I loved typing that rant, Firefox does not GC or Wii :D

Ran through Subspace Emissary and have all characters unlocked. Not sure how to get the remaining 16% (are they stickers?) Took 10 hours on EASY.

Still need to unlock some stages and try the events.

So, I picked this up last night (not even reserved woo!). It's my first Smash Bros game ever. Anyone particularly enjoy squashing newbies?

Having played both the Game Cube and Wii version, I'd suggest using the Game Cube controller. Note to others, I spent all of Subspace Emissary using the Wii w/Chuck, I still think the GC controller is better for this game. Or maybe I'm just more used to it.

I agree about using the GC controller. It's not that the others are bad, I'm just so used to the GC controls for the smash games now, it would be hard getting around that.

I'm a little less than halfway through the Emissary bit and I have never owned a GC, so I don't have one of the controllers. I'm not sure if it's because I'm a scrub or just haven't mastered shield use or what, but I started to get annoyed by how often I feel like I'm not in control of my character. I mean, I GET that knockback is what this game is about, but when there are 10 things on the screen ALL knocking ONE guy back, PLUS fire effects, PLUS occasionally moving screen AND trying to figure out EVERYONEs moves. I started to get a little frustrated.

I've thought about picking up a GC controller, but I've always thought they looked uncomfortable, and I'm not sure if there are wireless ones. I'm not fucking going back to tethered play. I'm considering giving one of my classic controllers a go round.
