Sailin' the seven seas!

Post by Donomni » Tue Sep 04, 2007 6:31 pm

On the biggest damn cruise ship ever!

On September 8th, me and my family will be going on the what will probably be the best vacation ever. For a week, we'll be sailing and going to Puerto Rico, as well as the St. Thomas and the St. Marten islands.

I've got some disposable cameras, so I'll get them developed and put on a CD so I can post some pics.

If you have any advice, lemme know, huh?

Titanic was only 52,000 tons. I'm not sure which is more surprising. That the super carriers are twice that, or that modern cruise ships are three times that.

Drinks (booze AND sodas) are super expensive on cruise ships, even more so than the tourist traps on land. Just beware if you drink alot of either.

Otherwise, aside from being crowded all the time, cruises are a blast, I can't wait til I get to go on another one.

Never pay listed prices at stores at the different ports. Always haggle.

Duty-free booze to take home is nice.

Is it just me or is "freedom of the seas" a good name for a vessel that exploits the lawlessness of international waters?

I would prefer to have a boat named Chicken of the Sea, we would run away from a vessel that exploits the lawlessness of international waters.

I suppose there would be a whole new meaning to the phrase, "Sorry Charlie?" :P

"The Freedom of the Seas"? Er, this vessel wouldn't happen to have originally had a French name would it?

Well, I did get it for cheap on the discount rack, so that might explain it.

Well, since you're going with your family, my only advice is: Keep away from your family while on the boat.

I can't avoid them entirely, but I'm most certainly gonna be doing a lot of things on my own. Of course, when I actually do try to find them, it's probably gonna take me a few hours or so. I can't normally find my family easily in Wal-Mart when I lose them, so it's probably gonna suck looking for them on this thing.

I don't think it'll be necessary on the island. That, and I'm absolutely horrible at foreign languages.

Well, my mom's been on a Royal Caribbean ship before, and while booze was by-the-bottle, soda and other fountain drinks were basically pay-per-day; you paid for a cup, and could refill it throughout the day at no charge. This might be different on Freedom, and if so, I'll just have to a bit more careful about what I get. Heh, my mom actually warned my sister about the charges for the alcohol, and not to go on a binge. :D

I know I'm gonna enjoy it, and since apparently spots are still available, it MIGHT be less crowded...
...who am I kidding? I know I'm gonna feel like a sardine at least once.

I'm not even sure I'm gonna get much of anything at the ports, but you never know.
It's probably good for me, though, that I don't drink booze(Or want to, really).

I don't think they have those... but they have a casino!
And Mini-Golf.

Check if they have Wii Sports, I remember one cruise ship isntalled a big Wii setup where people could watch matches in Wii Sports from monitors all over the ship.
