Anime Noob Requesting Assistance

Post by Infin8Cyn » Thu May 01, 2003 5:56 pm

Howdy all, as you all can see by my post count
(or for those few that have minorly gotten to know me, /me looks at Jezebel)
I'm a noob to 1) This Forum, and 2) Anime. And I'm gettin' into the forum thing, and I'm trying to bust into Anime as well, but I need some suggestions, mainly, what anime should I check out?
Because I'm a car nut (http://jwoody.no-ip.com/pics/supe.jpg) I've had a friend pass me the episodes of "Initial D", I've watched "Ghost in the Shell" the movie, I've got a few Episodes of Love Hina, and I'm trying to recover a friends HD so I can steal all his Cowboy Bebop episodes, but yeah... I'mlooking for suggestions, tips, favorites, links to good sites, in essence anything you can throw at meso that I can eventually add "Anime" to my list of hobbies.

Ghost in a Shell and Cowboy Bebop are the only ones i've gotten to check out, and I loved them. Trigun is on Cartoon Network at the moment, but I'm not really into that too much.

Well, here's one thing you shouldn't watch, SaiKano. Unless you like something extremly depressing, while having an extreme level of science fiction. Personally, I like it.

One friend of mine let me borrow Nadesco, it's mostly comedy while having a Gundam-like war. You know: ground & space battles; mecha and the like. It's not that bad really. If you like LH (by the way, don't forget to watch Love Hina Again) you might also like Ah! My Goddess. It's five episodes and a movie, so it's pretty easy for something to download. And the main character part of his school Auto Club and that's used as a plot device occasionally.

I've seen one episode of Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040. It seems pretty good, but I can't quite form an opinion, yet.
And you've probably heard of Rurouni Kenshin (aka Samuri X), it's been on toonami lately so it's gain popularity. But, if you want to see Kenshin brutally mutalate people and see how he gets his scars there are five or six OVAs explaining it. I've hardly watched any of the original series, but I still like these.
Everything has to fall apart sooner or later... might as well start now.

Evangelion and Hellsing. That's all you need. Start with Hellsing.
Gee, I sure like TV. And wearing pants.

It's a great anime, but if it's on Cartoon Network, it's no wonder you're not into it. They dub stuff and edit it up the wazoo (hehe wazoo).
Don't be so humble. You are not that great.
