Yeah.... trust me. We have the bad roads thing in SPADES. The city looks like it was laid out by a kindergardner with a crayon.

I really really reaaaalllly want to get you into Norther Virginia and see you try to navigate the roads. Organic is about the only term for the roads.

I saw that Seven Corners thing on Google Maps. Disgusting.

NO ONE can build roads in Texas. Either nothing gets done, or people elect Overlord Hairhelmet who trudges on making all our roads private toll roads... >:|

I'm amazed he's there now, considering it seems that we both agree in not supporting him. So I guess either whenever his unholy contract comes due, or Texas manages to produce an actually compelling candidate for governor.

It's amazing how badly the Dems fumbled the last Governor's race. I mean, Chris Bell? Wtf.

What's all the griping with the roads? Are you talking about local roads or something? After growing up in Arkansas and spending alot of time in Louisiana, Texas roads are the freaking bomb.

Out here all the highways and interstates are freaking awesome.

Arkansas roads are barely roads at all... I mean, we DID just get the wheel a couple years back.

Crossing bridges in Arkansas are also something of an adventure.

It's not that Texas roads are bad, so much as in some places - like Austin - like a lot of other places elsewhere - population has grown much faster than roads were designed or have been improved to handle, and TxDoT's version of doing it's job is leaving a shit-ton of abandoned and aborted projects all over the place that're half-complete and could make a huge difference to traffic if they'd just finish; and now they're doing something about it - by building huge private toll roads (wait - is the TTC being built by TxDoT? *begins to fume if so*) and still leaving things like the Ben White / 35 flyovers unbuilt (I-35, one of the biggest interstates in the nation, & one of the most fatal stretches of road, too; and Ben White, which is another big artery and leads for much of the city out to the airport, was for the longest time just a STOPLIGHT - they built an overpass, and then crapped out on building half of the highway-to-highway overpasses. So you cruise by fine if you're staying on, but you still get traffic congested trying to get from one to the other!) ...

Everyone, I think, bitches about their local roads, but I do think we have a case. :p

Houuuuuuston. Seriously. After living in d/FW (and a lot of time spent in Austin), I saw just how freakin' good Houston roads are.
