Monthly Rent

Post by adciv » Wed Dec 05, 2007 4:23 pm

So, given some of the cost of living discussions we have, what is it for you? And since there is such a wide range, please post dollar amounts below.

In Blacksburg, I've got a nice place where I have my own bedroom and a full kitchen and live with five other people. $370 a month for Cable, Internet and ALL utilities.

Including PMI, property taxes (gg escrow), homeowner's insurance, and whatever else in addition to principal and interest, the mortgage payment on my house comes out to ~$1430/mo. I'm not sure why it's any of your business, but whatever.

Well, my house is about 3 or 3 and a half years old, ~1600 sq ft, 3 bed, 2 bath. That really tells so little of the story, though. The old saying regarding location location location is founded in reality, the type and size of the lot on which the house is built, the type of construction, the type and quality of materials used internally and exteranlly, the height of the ceilings, yada yada yada. It's all important.

Most of my house is older than Deacons. 4 bed, 3 bath, 2 car garage on a corner lot. We can fit 8 cars in the driveway. I'm between three schools, an elementary, a middle and a high school and I'm off one of the major streets in the city. It's not a cheap property, I wish I could buy this bish.

Our mortgage is about £650 a month.

I live in Brooklyn. Rent is unforgiving. I prefer to keep the dollars and cents private as a general rule, but let me just clarify: the rent is absolutely insane, completely out of proportion to the true property values, and has no correspondence to the real estate world on a whole.

I can't wait to move.

I own a home right now (although I won't in about a month). My mortgage is about $2100 a month for a 3 bedroom 1 1/2 bath, 950 square foot home with a finished basement. The Maryland area where I live is really expensive.

After the house sells, I'll move in with my parents for about a year while I pay off all the debt my lovely ex-husband accrued for me. After that, I will definitely buy again.

We're paying $1000 a month for a 1750 sq ft - 3 bedroom home. I don't know what our utilities run though.

We were paying $1500 a month with about $150 in utilities.

I'm living in a room of an elderly lady for $250 a month. Which may not be for long because she threatens to throw me out if I keep leaving the screen door open to basement entry, something I have never done. I'm chalking it up to her being eighty years old and all of that.
