Re: 2008 RLF Gathering Travel Thread
Joanna and I will be driving from Atlanta to OBX Saturday morning. This time we won't be required to leave in the middle of the week (WOOT!)
Currently our itinerary is very simple: leave Atlanta at 5am. If you want to ride with us, be ready to be picked up around that time.
Rkitect's Shaggin Wagon:
(3) Spaces open with room for luggage.
Anyone is welcome to fly into Atlanta Friday night and stay with us if the flights are any cheaper to Atlanta. Just remember we are staying the whole week and will NOT NOT NOT be leaving to take you back to Atlanta for a flight out in the middle of the week.

Sounds like I'm supposed to be steeling myself against a painful violation of my back door with a sharpened pole...rkitect wrote:If you want to ride with us, be ready to be piked up around that time.

Don't be silly, Deacon. You need to stuff yourself with a fish.
I need fewer water.

Re: 2008 RLF Gathering Travel Thread
Wanted to update our travel plans:
We will be leaving Atlanta Friday night, April 11 staying the night at my parent's house in Wake Forest. Saturday, after lunch we are leaving for OBX, planning on arriving just after 4pm. So anyone wanting to ride with us will need to be ready to leave Atlanta at 6pm Friday night, or Wake Forest at noon on Saturday.

I'm assuming this means you'd be happy to drive someone back if they're staying the full week? I haven't looked at prices to Atlanta yet but anything that might make my airfare cheaper will happily be considered.rkitect wrote:Anyone is welcome to fly into Atlanta Friday night and stay with us if the flights are any cheaper to Atlanta. Also... OBX?

OBX = Outer Banks, which is what the area that we are going to be staying in is commonly called.

More than happy! Although, we need to know somewhat soon as it affects which vehicle we bring. One will accomodate 5 + luggage for all 5. One will accomodate 2 with luggage for 1.5... which reminds me. Is there a Washer and Dryer at this house?BtEO wrote:I'm assuming this means you'd be happy to drive someone back if they're staying the full week?

Wait, how many cars are we currently looking at?

Re: 2008 RLF Gathering Travel Thread
We're getting close to the limit on cars, here are the amount of cars I can think of off the top of my head.
Jarrod and Myself
Greg and Liz
Carl and Joanna + ???
Baghead, Terrene, Soap, and Arc
wocket and ????
Judging by past photos, the driveway can fit a max of 6 vehicles, there is no street parking. So there's room for one more vehicle.
Though wocket is only for the last half, so if someone with a vehicle is only going for the first half that allows for two more cars.
I think Kree is driving, but he is only for the first half. So I guess there's room for one more car total, which would leave us with 6 cars during the entire week. Bteo and Hennet can't really rent a car, so the only person left to get a car would be Deacon if he wants one.
Wocket, would you be okay with picking up Hennet from the airport? He gets in at 3 but it would be a four hour or so roundtrip to leave the house and go to pick him up and drive back. If Bteo gets a ride with either Carl & Joanna or Deacon (depending on if Deacon gets a car or not) that leaves everyone covered.

I have offered to drive him if nobody else is able. He'd have to wait a minimum of 3 hours, but hey, that's what books are for.

Re: 2008 RLF Gathering Travel Thread
Since you're the only other person attending just the second half, that's probably going to be the best option. Jarrod had to leave to pick people up in the middle of the week and I'm sure he's not too eager to do that again, especially since it's just for one person this time.

It's very likely I'll be renting a car.
