I created this account to tell you:

Hey Greg & Liz. I'm a long time reader (read: "looooong time"), but I never registered on the forums.
I registered today to tell you that your slight against Pepsi is a forgivable one in my eyes, but there is a way to get that delicious cane sugar cola taste without buying Mexican Coke.
Ever seen Boylan's Sugar Cane Soda? I don't know if you can find it down there, but here in Boston you can buy them at Whole Foods Markets. There are a couple in Austin according to google maps.
They're delicious sodas without the guilt of betraying our beloved Pepsi.

That's not what they were talking about, but if you really have to reach that far, go ahead.
Whole Foods started and is based in Austin, sir. They've got a 3-story version downtown.

Thank you. (I used to live in Houston... but my family moved north when I was 10. I remember hanging off shopping carts at Krogers, Randalls, and Food Lion but nowhere else).Deacon wrote:That's not what they were talking about, but if you really have to reach that far, go ahead.

You see Greg? There's no excuse. Go to Whole Foods. Buy some Boylan's, and don't let yourself drink anymore Coke.

Wait wait wait....
RC Cola? Am I reading that right?
Are you saying RC Cola has a "draft" version that is made with sugarcane?Kovac wrote:Royal Crown Draft Cola is pretty awesome.
It is made using pure sugarcane, rather than the high fructose corn syrup.

Okay, maybe I haven't been following this comic that long... what's the deal with Greg and Coke? (Other than he is a sane individual like myself and drinks Diet Coke/Coke Zero?)
EDIT: N/M... found the reference. "Crystal Pepsi." Sheesh.

Soooo... When can we expect you to join DA, Greg? Soon, considering your alleged average rate of Pepsi consumption.
BTW, I prefer the brand X stuff. Normally cheaper, but tastes the same
He just unconditionally hates Coca Cola Products. Maybe it's the fact that it used to have cocaine as one of its ingredients.jwhouk wrote:Okay, maybe I haven't been following this comic that long... what's the deal with Greg and Coke? Read the archives. Greg is a huge Pepsi fan and pretty much keeps the company in business.jwhouk wrote:Okay, maybe I haven't been following this comic that long... what's the deal with Greg and Coke? (Other than he is a sane individual like myself and drinks Diet Coke/Coke Zero?)

This from the lady kissing a bottle of Jagermeister. Quite possibly the worst alcoholic beverage I have smelled, let along to drink.UFOs8MyCat wrote:Wait wait wait....Are you saying RC Cola has a "draft" version that is made with sugarcane?Kovac wrote:Royal Crown Draft Cola is pretty awesome.

The idea that they have a "draft" version is awesome. If I weren't on a diet, I'd go and find a bottle of RC Draft. Maybe I still will...
And I feel compelled to say that just because cartoon Greg is in trouble for drinking Coke doesn't mean real-life Greg is in similar trouble. He could drink more water though.

This town's expensive enough. Are you actively torturing yourself by going to Whole Paycheck Market on top of that? They have that soda at Trader Joe's too. You can even use the money you save on soda to buy an entire bottle of wine.
Speaking of sugar cane soda, I can't remember the name of it but some independent company put some authentic sugar cane cola in those big Arizona Iced Tea-sized cans. It's pretty good stuff, but it's hard to find. The can is red with checkerboard designs on it, if that helps.

My brother and his girlfriend are vegan. My girlfriend and I are vegetarian. All 3 of our families are pretty much a bunch of hippies to varying degrees. Try eating vegan without going to whole foods, good luck to you. You buy what you can wherever you can. My family never shops all in one place, that's how you spend too much on groceries. The Cid wrote:Dude.Llama wrote:Ever seen Boylan's Sugar Cane Soda? And besides, Trader Joe's is more out of the way than Whole Foods. When I say Boston, I mean Milton. I go to school in Boston, I'm commuting from home. (Who the hell can afford to live IN Boston that can't afford to spend $200 on groceries anyways?)

Well, me for one. I can't afford to have a car, so living in Boston actually means I save money (T pass = less than gas plus car insurance).(Who the hell can afford to live IN Boston that can't afford to spend $200 on groceries anyways?)
...You missed Vermont by about 100 miles or so. Might want to look into South Burlington if you're really hippies. (Joking!)My brother and his girlfriend are vegan.
