Valentine's Day

Post by Rorschach » Wed Feb 13, 2008 9:49 am

First and foremost: if you're a hideous emotional cripple, ugly pariah or social misfit then this thread is not for you. I'm sorry that the nearest you'll come to sex is resting on your mouse at the moment but maybe you can start a thread of your own about how pathetic you are.
Also, if you're one of these superior, irritating 'Yah, actually it's all bullshit anyway, y'know? Saint Valentine was actually a veal-farmer. It was barbaric barbarism. I'm not in thrall to Hallmark.' cunts then, equally, fuck off.

Anyone left - be they unbitter, optimistic, in love, or just generally the internet minority - what do you have planned for tomorrow? Even a card's a go-er. As I've recently emptied my romance-sack all over The Missus' face, I don't think I'll be doing much more than love gwibble that will barely clear my heart-helmet, but I'll try to think of something - even if it's just a nice dinner.

Anyone else?

The girlfriend and I aren't really planning anything. We decided to avoid the rush and go have our nice dinner out on Monday. Considering I've seen places around town advertising their "Valentine's Day Specials" including a twenty-fucking-dollar salad, I think we made the right choice.
My slow descent into madness seems to have abruptly become a flaming plunge.

Greg and I were supposed to go for a fancy dinner, but the check we were expecting in the mail hasn't come yet, so we're just staying home and watching a movie. We'll probably be raiding too. :D

Steve is working now and I'm working tonight/tomorrow morning (graveyard shift sucks and is very confusing) so we're not doing much of anything.

The Boyfriend said he has a surprise for me, which I cannot begin to guess at.

We were also supposed to get a suite by the shore this weekend (yay beaches in winter!) but then both of our jobs interfered, so that's probably going to be next weekend.

Aaron has class tonight, so we decided not to do anything today. We were going to go get a massage at a spa tomorrow after work, and then dinner...but he got food poisoning Monday night and is feeling very yucky, so we canceled those too. We bought a couple of movies (Love, Actually and About A Boy) that we're going to watch, as well as make strawberry fondue. :)

The wife is still in New Zealand, so it's the same as the last one. We're doing...nothing.

I personally hate Valentine's day. My husband wishes I would like it more. I haven't had a good Valentine's in, well, ever. Things always go wrong, no matter how hard we try. He's finally given up though and we aren't celebrating. He did however surprise me at work yesterday with a dozen gorgeous red roses. Since it was the 13th nothing went wrong with it ~laughs~ Tonight we're just eating pizza and watching TV. On Saturday we'll probably go to the movies.

I stayed at Paul's the night before (I was too exhausted to drive home after opening night). When I woke up he'd already gone to work, but there was a card a rose on my bags. The rose was really cool, it was made out of dyed feathers.

I picked Paul up from work at 5 and gave him his card. My Valentine's Day gift to him was starting a lay-by at EB Games for a Wii + 2 games + an extra remote. We're both going to pay it off over the next month or so.

We then went out and got tea at a really nice pizza place and drove to the theatre and ate it in the car park while we were waiting for everyone else to show up to unlock the theatre.

Not what we originally had planned, but a nice day nonetheless.

Last night I went to the boyfriend's place and found a dozen red roses mixed in with white carnations.
He'd just worked a 13 hour day on 2 hours of sleep, so it was just "hey honey look at the flowers ok sleep now".

This morning, though, he told me he's in love with me (this is the first time he's said it, so it's a big deal), and we're going out to dinner tonight.

We have dinner reservations for tomorrow night (and my mom lined up to babysit the rugrats).

If I don't get over this flu or whatever it is that's causing mild nausea and dizziness, though, we aren't going anywhere (and no, I'm not pregnant. At least, I'm 99% sure of that) and will likely just stay home and play Metroid Prime.

We sent roses to our mothers and hubby's grandmother. My mom's went missing though, so now a fun fight with FTD to get our $ back.

Card shops should not be allowed to close early on Valentine's Day.
Although I had a beautiful moment of male empathy at half-past nine last night in Asda, surrounded by nervous, sweaty guys wrestling to get at the last few pathetic cards on the shelf.
