Shirt Ninja Figurine Details

Post by Mae Dean » Sat Mar 08, 2008 12:46 am

Technically, this isn't a poll thread - but I am using it to draw your attention to the most recent newspost on the front page, because I need as much feedback as I can get. (And figured this would be the best way to get your attention, since apparently nobody reads my newsposts. :D)

Oh, good... you've torn your brain away from the nonsensical tongue-twister above and managed to make it down to the paragraph text. Sorry about that. :)
Nice. On a different note, why do you have to close the preorders on Tax Day?

You read the wrong bit of the newsbox.

Anyway, I think the figurine is a good idea, I'm just not sure if the Shirt Ninja is a good first one - your strip has changed a lot and when was the last appearence of the Shirt Ninja? Its been awhile hasn't it? The strip is now more about you and Liz with other people thrown in (not a bad thing at all btw).

Something I think might work better is the something like the figurine that was on top of your wedding cake - you and Liz together doing something cute.

Then again, I'm only one person. Those are just my ideas.

P.S. I'll probably buy a figurine no matter what, as if the first one is successful (even if its not one I would personally want) maybe the next one will be.

I answered the poll, but it took me to a login page. Was that supposed to happen? Was my answer recorded?

I agree with Koeniou that shirt ninja might not be the best first choice, but I'd totally go with Tony instead of something cutesy.

I fixed the poll - my built-in poll system is apparently made of poop, so I found one that was made of less poop.

Mainly, the thought is this - the Shirt Ninja is and was a very popular "character", and would look awesome as a statuette - I mean, I have plans of doing all the characters if this does well, but if I had a chance to do just ONE - think how awesome it would look with the shirt ninja poised and ready to kill, katana held at the ready. Especially if it were sculpted by an honest-to-god anime figurine sculptor. It would be Legend-wait for it-DARY.

My HOPE is that this does well - because if it does, it means others will follow.

You know, I'm pretty surprised nobody's mentioned it yet, but I'm seeing double.

I guess he fixed it, because I'm not seeing double. I'd be totally interested in buying a shirt ninja figurine. Do you have any idea what the dimensions of the figurine would be? Or the price? Or is it way too early to ask these things?

A shirt ninja figurine would rock. What about Chibi Greg though? Can he be a figurine too?

One quick question, what style would the figure be? Would it be simplistic like in the comic, or something more heavily detailed, more in line with traditional anime figures?

Okay, as to the questions...
Style: Probably would be like a hyper-detailed version of the comic character - i.e., the proportions and lines would all pretty much be the same, but you'd be seeing a lot of extra detail - folds on the shirt, the tag would be sticking out... that kind of thing. I mean, it'd be as detailed as most anime figurines you see, but the style would be definitively Real Life.

Cost: Way, way, WAY too early to know. I'd like for the cost to be low enough that I can offer it for $29.95, but if the cost is anywhere near what I'm expecting it to be, probably looking at closer to $39.95-$44.95 or so. Even at $45, it's still cheaper than most anime figurines of comparable quality, but it depends SOLELY on the cost per item, which I won't know until after I get a more detailed quote from them.

Chibi Greg: I've considered this for a future option. :) Actually, I've considered a whole chibi set.

Now by set, do you mean that would also include a Chibi Deacon?

If you do make a chibi Deacon, can he have the same facial expression he's wearing in panel 4 of the March 7th comic?

Oh dear lord.

I can decide if that's the most awesome thing I've ever heard or the most ridiculous.

Or both.

I would TOTALLY buy a chibi Deacon.

Although that facial expression is a bit much....

How about a figurine of Greg and Pedobear?
