Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh.

Greg, that's disappointing is that you missed the most important REAL one: the pickup truck.
Ford, GMC, and Dodge all have their own versions of it (though Dodge calls theirs the "Lone Star Edition"). It's a low-end pickup with a chrome package. But it's the
Texas edition. And if you think that's bad...

YES! Found in many grocery stores are tortilla chips shaped like Texas. Because we narcissistic. I mean awesome. Awesome.
And I just found a link to even more Texas-shaped fun!
http://magliery.com/Texas/shapes.html
For those of you who are wondering...
Spoiler: (click to reveal/hide)The stop sign is almost certainly fake.
EDIT: More awesome? How about Dairy Queen?
See, "you people" have
http://www.dairyqueen.com . But WE have
http://www.dqtexas.com/ . Seriously.

We do go overboard sometimes. Hell, I've got a Texas shaped belt buckle, never thought twice about it. When I was a kid I had a Texas shaped pog board.
EDIT*
Actually, I've seen a Texas shaped stop sign before. I don't recall where though.

By the way, I just gotta voice my love of the "My name is Earl" Reference.
Oh, another thing he have dedicated to Texas is "King of the Hill" The show is funniest to us because they mention our towns. People in other states don't know its a real place their making a joke about.
For example, I live in Mesquite.
"Mesquite tried to do a bull run last year, but the bulls kept stopping to eat the grass in the sidewalks."
Oh, and spoiler alert
Spoiler: (click to reveal/hide)There is no real Arlen.

The road sign thing is normal in every state I've been in (most recently Ohio).

I had a texas shaped Waffle in Dallas at the continental breakfast bar in the morning.
My sig would have contained the secret of life, but I'd already clicked submit.

Not California. You might see the state's shape on some sign saying the highway is maintained by some sort of organization that has it in their logo, but the average everyday road signs do not include the state's shape. Actually, very few signs do. In Texas however, it's EVERYWHERE.

I thought signs were supposed to be standardized, and in part the important ones show what they are not only by print but shape, so even if all you can make out is the shape, you know to stop or yield.
But I guess narcissism > standardization.

There isn't anything bad about Texas pride, but damn.

Fugglestatement:
Spoiler: (click to reveal/hide)Pride? No, nothing (much) wrong with that (, or not, depending on the definition of 'pride' at hand). But eventually, be they fangirls for yaoi or rural folk for Texas, any group of fanfolk are going to get tiring with their incessant squee.
But at least it can be taken as a source of amusement, in one form or another depending on your attitudes. Like, for example, today's comic.

Is someone seriously under the impression that the Texas-shaped stop sign is real?

That is because California is not shaped in a way anyway near conducive to signage. The sign would have to be almost vertical and not much would fit on it.

I've seen these signs in other states, but they usually have to be distorted to fit the info in them. Georgia might not care if its state looks funny, but the Texas shape is a fucking icon. When I visited my family in Europe, everyone knew what Texas looked like, but I really doubt anyone knew if Ohio was even a state.
Btw, having grown up in Texas, this comic really doesn't surprise me. The majority of out of state folks have the same idea... "Your state _really_ likes being Texas doesn't it?"

Texas really is the yaoi of states.

California would have to be distorted A LOT....

First - Texas is a Nation
Second - I thought that all sates did that in their signs.
Third - 'King of the Hill' is more like a documentary.
Fourth - I wish this forum was in the shape of Texas
