I make a new comic EVERY DAY. For me to have to register each individual comic is absolute BULLSHIT. And even on other works of art - you should be protected against theft. That's what the government is supposed to help do. Frankly, the concept of having to pay money to prevent people from stealing your shit sounds a little mobbish, if you ask me.
35 $ x 1981 comics (as of today) = 69,335 dollars.

:?

Could buy several Deloreans with that money.

Though, you CAN register everything as a set. I could register all works up to a certain date together, as a group, and it would be a collection... for one $35 fee.

While true, would there not still be certain drawbacks?

You could register each year of the comic as a collection but could risk anyone ripping off of your art until the end of that year, right?

You could do each month, week, day, hour, doodle on a scrap of paper, but the bills would start to pile up. While I can understand where they are coming from in this system, it is in no way geared toward professional artists of medium, it seems more like the patent system.

I don't think having to pay per thing is right. Being able to copyright stuff is cool, but without the high fee. I take pictures, some of which turn out very nice! I don't post them on the internet because I don't want them stolen. However, I want to be able to share them. ::sigh:: I'm stuck with the fact that I can't have both ways, so I just stick with not posting them and keeping them to myself :( Especially since most people don't even listen to copyright laws :(

Stolen? What kind of pictures are these that they would be stolen and used for commercial purposes? Are you trying to use them for commercial purposes?

No... but one picture I took ended up getting turned into some sort of website and the person put a copyright on it with there name. I told them I took it and was upset about not getting credit and they threatened to sue me when I was only 15. So I stopped with the picture thing.

I don't know if this helps, but I load all of my images I post into GIMP, and add a my site as a watermark on the corner. Sure, somebody can edit it out, but it's indexed somewhere on 'net. I'm sure I could prove it's mine if I have to.

If someone wants to use a image, they are free to do so. Just give me credit.

GIMP? I should try that... thanks!

Yea, as long as they give me credit I don't mind. But when they claim it's there pictures, that is when I get upset!
