Each day the prospect of somebody else coming forth to claim said kitty diminishes by an order of magnitude.
You posted on April 29th. You indicated you have had the cat a few days. It is near the end of the month. My best guess is that of NotQuiteDead, somebody ditched the cat for whatever reason. Another guess is that somebody went on vacation and accidentally left the cat out. In that case, they shouldn't have been gone more than a week, as the litter box would be pretty ripe by then. ( I know, I'm thinking the owner is considerate, but then it does have a tag.)
I would wait until next monday, and then acknowledge the cat's adoption of you. Given that would be May 5th, the kitty's new name would have to be Cinco.
