Re: Politicians and Facial Hair
There are no beards in Management today. It's socio/patho/anthro-logical or whatever, but that is the way it goes. Time to shave.

Re: Politicians and Facial Hair
I like seeing beards on men, but that's mainly a personal thing. On a politician though, I suppose it would depend on the person.
Personally I think don't shave, you look good with a beard. I think that if you just stay clean and well trimmed you'll make a fine impression.

Re: Politicians and Facial Hair
And, I wasn't really just looking for world leaders, but influencers and people just within politics. In addition to Abraham Lincoln, I believe Grant and Kofi Annan had beards
.
Only representative I can think of that has a mustache is John Salazar from Colorodo...I think the biggest thing is is that, for some reason or another, my generation doesn't like to grow facial hair. But, if you look at my photo and then imagine me without it, I seriously look like I'm a 12 year old...

Re: Politicians and Facial Hair
Don't keep it with the beard. If you keep it at all, go with the VERY neatly trimmed goatee. You look like you have a young face - the goatee might stop people from thinking you're 16
Here at work in management we have no one above a senior manager level that keeps a beard. One finance director and our corporate controller occasionally go goatee, but that's it, and neither keeps it for more than a few months at a time.

Hey, he became a captain! Well, in Star Trek Nemesis, at least. Furthermore, Picard always referred to him as his Number One, which makes him at least urine.Sophira wrote:And Riker did not become a serious Captain of a Starship Vessel in all the series, did he? He stayed number 2 forever. And being number 2 is like being poop.

Richard Branson has been known to sport a beard. There are no beards in Management today. It's socio/patho/anthro-logical or whatever, but that is the way it goes. Time to shave.
Honestly Kerui, if you like the beard you can keep it. But as someone who had one for a while, I warn you that you need to keep it real neat at all times. Shave around it, trim constantly. Also, beards don't usually work for people with really short hair like yourself. You might want to grow the hair on top of your head out a little bit if you're keeping the beard. Right now it appears both the beard and the top of your head are the same length.
It's tough to carry a beard in today's society, but stick with it. Just remember that with corporate and political settings dictate that you have to keep it meticulously trimmed and shave around it.

Re: Politicians and Facial Hair
It absolutely doesn't matter. Beards make someone look less clean and professional than someone with a beard. Trimmed or no, it's just a knee-jerk reaction. If you want to go to Washington to make a difference, then you had better well shave it.Kerui wrote:
But what if it is obviously kept meticulously and neatly trimmed?

Thats funny because when I shave my goatee people seem to take me less seriously. I think its the absence of a solid chin. Damn genetics.

Re: Politicians and Facial Hair
Keeping clean shaven makes me look younger than when I have a beard or some scruff. At the last place I worked, people were wondering what a high schooler was doing there when I should be in school (I was 24
).

Anyone 20th century or later, then. Besides, Lincoln was a back-woods hick who looked Amish. Do you really want to look like an angry Amish dude?spikegirl7 wrote:Abraham Lincoln =/= dictator

You'd be surprised by the random Americans, that I would've thought didn't care, who care. Actually, I said that for any Chinese/American-Chinese lurkers who may have gotten the urge to jump in for some propaganda...happens all the time.Deacon wrote:Dude, I don't think anyone outside the PRC/ROC give a crapKerui wrote:please, don't turn this into a pro/anti-Taiwan discussion.
