Re: Obama vs. McCain: Thoughts?
no I'm saying that I linked McCain's website, and I was under the impression you were talking about the link I put up. But I guess you were talking about your links. I think we're all just confused.

Re: Obama vs. McCain: Thoughts?
Ok, yeah, we were each talking about our own links. I thought you were talking about mine and you thought I was talking about yours. More so though, is that beyond just the cap and trade, the major news groups (TV & Newspaper) have not been examining Obama like they have McCain. The first link I gave talks about that in detail with the second one going more so on their (the news) lack of integrity in this. Obama has been the least examined candidate I can remember. Mind you, that isn't as long compared to some of the other forum goers, but it is ridiculus.

Re: Obama vs. McCain: Thoughts?
Try to remember all the names besides Obama, Biden, McCain and Palin that you see on the ballot running for president. All of them have Obama beat when it comes to not being examined enough by the media.adciv wrote:Obama has been the least examined candidate I can remember.
EDIT: And that group includes Ralph Nader, who has been a part of the American political spectrum in some way for about as long as Senator Obama has been alive.

Re: Obama vs. McCain: Thoughts?
Not at all what I was talking about and you know it.
There are several candidates for president THIS YEAR that I was referring to. You think things are unfair toward one of the MAJOR parties? HA!!

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't say "please take a shot at another party besides your own." I don't think you need to be prompted to do that.
Anyone who isn't a Democrat or a Republican has to pay an extensive amount of money from their own pocket to get any media attention whatsoever. You keep acting like the media is unfair to Republicans, how about the other handful of parties that are outright ignored?

What can I say, I'm looking at those who have a statistical chance of actually winning an electoral vote.

Oh yeah, I forgot that politicians only exist when they have some shot at winning, and if they don't nobody should know what they stand for or hear what they have to say...

That's what websites are for, along with buying commercials. That should not be what the news is for.

So wait, in order for a small party to get their message to the masses they have to pay for it, but big parties are entitled by law to "equal time?"adciv wrote:That's what websites are for, along with buying commercials. That should not be what the news is for.
I'm not saying to give everybody their own three network infomercial, but YES I think our general population should know the minor parties' candidates for president and what they stand for. Not much to ask.

You might want to reread what equal time means.

Re: Obama vs. McCain: Thoughts?
It's amazing to me how incredibly shocked and horrified and outraged and offended Democrats and reporters are if anyone within earshot of a microphone utters anything degrading about the Jackass party, but those very Democrats (e.g. Murtha) and reporters (a guy on CNN I saw earlier today while waiting for my plane to depart) publicly declare anyone who doesn't vote for Obama a redneck, an idiot, knuckle draggers, mouthbreathers, and racists. Without so much as a rebuke. In Murtha's case, he affirmed that's what he meant about his own constituents, and on the reporter's part, the anchor tried desperately to give him an out asking if he meant that metaphorically (or some other silliness) and they guy said no. And nobody seems to mind. It's infuriating. The only thing worse than hypocrisy and a lack of integrity and intellectual honesty is when those things are all flouted without even a modicum of shame or a token nod to propriety and it's tolerated by the public or even applauded and cheered in many cases.
In the mean time, even the angry good ol' boy Republicans whose boat Palin rocked couldn't get their best vindictive shot to land, but that won't stop everyone from admitting they were wrong or even bothering to report it as a major story.
You're comparing the outright shilling for Obama and torpedoing McCain (without even attempting a half-hearted veil of objectivity in most cases) with failing to splash on the front page in-depth exposes on what realistically are irrelevant and utterly unelectable third parties? As much of a shame as that fact is, it is a fact in our current political structure, and it's unlikely to change without a change to the voting structure itself--the media itself will not even come close to touching any third party that might hurt their guy.Anyone who isn't a Democrat or a Republican has to pay an extensive amount of money from their own pocket to get any media attention whatsoever. You keep acting like the media is unfair to Republicans, how about the other handful of parties that are outright ignored?

Re: Obama vs. McCain: Thoughts?
No, not everyone is equally effected.
Carbon caps/Kyoto is the 2nd stupidest treaty setup every made. It does nothing to decrease CO2 emissions and has only increased CO2 and polution. It's moving all manufacturing to China, India and other countries who have no caps under Kyoto where they have much less efficient factories, power plants that polute more and whose environmental protection laws are a joke. If Kyoto was to have been implemented properly, it would have measured carbon by the products that are bought in each jurisdiction, not the ones that are produced. THEN you would have had a an actual decrease in carbon use in the countries that sign Kyoto, not merely a shift of where it is being produced.
So, lets review the effects:
More CO2
More polution
Jobs lost
Industrial base lost
Increased trade defecit
Local producers handicaped to be less competitive compared to overseas producers
