The forum code allows for different themes to be used. As such, it may cause problems if a theme is created in the future which uses a conflicting color. That, and it's just annoying.

Also, Fuggle's still a greedy jerk.

For the record, it's not a hostile sort of "fuck 'em", it's more an offhanded disappointed dismissal of the whole venture and disapproval of their model rather than any sort of hostility or desiring them failure... just a complete death of desire to support them in this venture or even partake in it.

They can make whatever choice they want to, sure - I just find this particular set of choices (to distributed a product for free and then turn around and go "yeah, but not any more, now you need to give us money") to be objectionable, and have no desire to support them in their actions as such.

Hell, had it been entertaining, if they hadn't done this, I might have chosen to support them and buy the dvd, especially if it had interesting features on top of it. But now? Not gonna happen.

As a side note, greedy? Howso, here?

Also, Rose, don't give in to the pressure of a few vocal people who just can't deal. Use whatever color you want. Yellow's kinda harsh, though.

Yes, I'm sure that's the same advice they gave to Hitler when he started spouting off about Jews.

I gave a perfectly legitimate reason. Unless you have some sort of counter to that, stop dragging your fingers across the keyboard.

Thats still part of the problem for me though. I think it's a little crazy to not even want to partake anymore because of their decision, and methods of distribution. Especially since they had something that explained it very clearly beforehand instead of one day going to the site and going "Hey! Why isn't this available anymore?!?!"

Thanks for saying so :) I mostly just stopped until I heard a plausible reason, which the theme thing sounds like it could be. Not the "It's just annoying" reason though. To me it's annoying that everyone just uses black instead, so if that were a valid reason there would be no solution. But it doesn't matter as I don't post here much anyway, it's been something like 4 years since the first and last times. I just was driven by a passionate need to respond

[edit] Also it's currently still running... I wonder if they know... *curses the lack of a ninja smiley*

Yeah, you're really daddy's little nonconformist, a creative genius. You're the cream of the LiveJournal crop.

Yes, yes, your mind holds the key to the aesthetic salvation of all mankind, I'm sure.

Why's it crazy? Doing so would support 'em, and as I said, I've no desire to support them.

Now if I refused to watch it if someone else picked it up and was providing the entertainment? Yeah. That'd be some crazy stuff there. :)
Especially since they had something that explained it very clearly beforehand instead of one day going to the site and going "Hey! Why isn't this available anymore?!?!"
Well, yeah, I guess, to an extent ... if it'd be worse if they sprung it like that, then it's not as bad if they said so upfront, but I don't see how that fact changes anything enough to not find it objectionable. They've still done it, they just gave fairish advance warning.

And Arc, if it's such a problem why don't you talk to Martin about getting the feature disabled?

Because the use of alternate colors can be used for specific needs. Second, I assume people here are mature enough to understand why it might be problematic to use it constantly. Do you honestly need such obvious points made out for you?

If you want to discuss this further, take it to another thread or something.

Once again, no, they haven't been given away for free. Advertisers pay them.

Fine. Given to me, at no cost to me. Internet advertising is such an easily ignored non-entity (except for the intrusive stuff that tends to be remembered for being intrusive and annoying, rather than for a particular product, and those products that stick out in the mind create a negative association that disfavors purchase, god I wish they could feel it when they'd shoot themselves in the nuts like that / that other people were better enough and it wouldn't seemingly work because it keeps going on ... but that's a rant for another place...) that it's hard to remember it's there, doing it's thing, sometimes. :)
