Where did you take that, friend? That is silly, Russia never said that. I do not know where you take your information but it is far of reality. You do not impose sanctions to a country that is almost inoperative and on the verge of civil war. Problems in Zimbabwe are economical and most importantly now, political. Before imposition of sanctions, UN and Afrikan Union should try to find a way of reconciliation between the opposing parties.

The realist in me, says the only way to fix this is to collapse the government entirely and start from scratch. Pretty much, the entire economy and country has collapsed. Everything needs to be reestablished from the ground up.

I'm starting to warm to the idea of a unity government that's being touted by South Africa and other nations trying to diplomatically resolve this crisis. I'm beginning to think that's the only way they can solve this matter internally. But Mugabe should be no where near it.

Mugabe as president has been labeled by the ZANU-PF as an unconditional requirement for talks to be able to even proceed. He's not going anywhere unless he dies.

Russia and China are both opposed to serious measures because it could be used as precedence to interfere in their own corners of violence, most immediately covering Chechnya and Xinjiang Province, respectively. They don't want other nations involved in what they consider a purely domestic issue.

Russia is not different of USA. She likes to use the Security council when it suits her. However, using Security council regarding the outcome of election in a country is a violation of UN charter. The crisis must be solved by the people of Zimbabwe via the right institutions. Economy is ruined in that country, but the biggest problem, at this moment, is of political nature and was created by last elections. Using what you call "serious measures" will only contribute to kill what is left of stability.

That was not an election. It was a farce. Even the African Union election monitors that were allowed to stay said that there was nothing resembling free or fair.
