Re: Zimbabwe to issue Z$100,000,000,000 note
At the current rate I heard of $800 Zimbabwe dollars to $1 American dollar, it would take $80,000,000,000,000.00 Zimbabwe dollars to equal the rate of $100,000,000,000.00. Similarly it would take €51,020,408,163,265.30, ¥8,888,888,888,888,890.00, £40,060,090,135,202.80, or $80,889,787,664,307.40 Loonies. I have no idea how much it would take in Monopoly money, although Monopoly money would probably be worth more than Zimbabwe money.

Are you sure that conversion is accurate? It doesn't sound right at all. Hell, the Mexican Peso used to be 3000 to 1, and it was nowhere near as bad as Zimbabwe. The Yen is about 108 to 1, and nobody's carting around wheelbarrows to buy lunch.

Reminds me of what happened one time in Highschool. Our computer teacher was getting married and the honeymoon was in Mexico. He went to get $100 in pesos and walked out with a paper bag full of money.

That's right. Over thirty three billion Zimbabwean Dollars to one (1) US Dollar. I suggest we ignore Amp on such matters for the foreseeable future.Thursday, July 24, 2008
1 US Dollar = 33,288,144,660 Zimbabwe Dollar
1 Zimbabwe Dollar (ZWD) = 0.00000000 US Dollar (USD)

It used to be 800:1 many years ago. Perhaps you heard 800 million:1?

No one said it was fair. But if we want to solve the crisis, Security council is just not the right institution. First thing Mugabe will use for him is the evil white rich people are against us. Everybody will know USA is behind the Council in this case. We should give a chance to the Afrikan Union, and most importantly, to the Southern Afrikan Development Community as their moral weight is more significant. With the SC, the only thing you will do is to put salt on the wound.Martin Blank wrote:That was not an election. It was a farce. Even the African Union election monitors that were allowed to stay said that there was nothing resembling free or fair.Makh wrote:However, using Security council regarding the outcome of election in a country is a violation of UN charter.

Re: Zimbabwe to issue Z$100,000,000,000 note
That's the problem. Is there a line that should be drawn before entities external to the country get involved? The MDC claims that more than 100 of its members were killed and several thousand are missing. Video of soldiers forcing people to vote for Mugabe has surfaced. Some of the world's best farmland lies fallow even as its people are starving.
This is what makes it so frustrating.

I stand by my original assertion, that it's a lose-lose for the US to get involved. If we get involved, they hate us, and we receive no tangible benefit from it. Harden your heart and let this little shitstain of a country implode on itself. Most of the rest of the continent needs a good cleansing by fire anyway.

I'd argue that most of the rest of the continent is in the process of a good cleansing by fire right now. Between the wars, deforestation and various other things.

Would these be the stamps from the 1920's and early 30's?

The thought had crossed my mind to move to Zimbabwe briefly just to say I was a multi-trillionaire.

Was Zimbabwe the aerial shot for the beginning of the movie Coming to America? (The last funny movie featuring Eddie Murphy, I believe.)
