7/23/08: Liz's Con Has Cute Dolls With Joints

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

I think Liz should do a guest strip, made with photos of her dolls dressed up as the RL characters. That'll larn 'im.

"Ball-joined doll convention" is oddly specific, how many people actually attend? And are you bitter rivals with non-ball-jointed doll conventions? :P

I'm trying to figure out what a cosplayer would wear at a doll convention. But I'm only getting is All Purpose Catgirl Nuku-Nuku.

Uhg...don't remind me. Must not tell the wife. She has been pesting me to take her to BJD cons.

We already have a family of dolls in our living room mooching off us. All they do is sit around all day and be lazy. When's the last time they took out the trash?!

Rozen Maiden is about BJDs really. Hand Maid May/Mai are about androids that small. Coyote ragtime is about maids, not BJDs.

So effectively Rozen Maiden is your best Anime reference material. (yes, my wife bought dolls and hair and eyes online to try to make the 4 main dolls from Rozen Maiden, just hasn't made the clothes yet).

Oh yeah, shameless plug. http://www.urban-pixie.com. She makes custom BJD clothes. You can see some of her work at http://www.featherfall.ca/store/index.p ... oddtie39v5

For a little bit there, I was trying to figure out what BJD stood for, and passed by some "other" acronyms first. Coyote Ragtime is NOT about maids. However, on that note. Does your wife take commissions?

Ooooooh! The nearly context-less pronoun use of "she" was actually referring to his wife. Now I get it!

Yes Adciv, she does commissions. Just send her an e-mail (address on urban-pixie.com).

A Maid Guy doll is either an awesome idea, or a terrible idea, I'm not sure which. Also, out of curiosity, did you watch Kamen no Maid Guy before or after I wrote about it?

My memory of past comics isn't as good as it used to be, but is this the first time character Liz refereed to character Greg as the author of the comics?

I seem to recall that, in the past, Cartoonist Greg would be the proverbial booming voice from the sky, and the characters in the comic, while aware on some level that they are characters, didn't reference character Greg as the author. They knew that Cartoonist Greg existed, or at least character Greg and character Liz knew of his existence. I don't recall if other characters interacted with Cartoonist Greg.

I get that it's Greg's comic to do with as he pleases, but this just seems odd, even for him.
