So I could have phrased that a bit better.
I hope it actually stays running next time they start it up.

Just saying... it is, in and of itself, a cost-prohibitive project. They will continue to funnel money at it pretty much no matter what. It's the nature of the beast to devour money.

Because of this, I would assume so. However, if the scientist had thought to add a supercomputer to the list of SHIT THEY WOULD NEED, that probably wouldn't be necessary....Lucksi wrote: I don´t know, but do those computers HAVE to be networked and be accessible from the net?

I would find it quite ironic if they weren't.Lucksi wrote:I don´t know, but do those computers HAVE to be networked and be accessible from the net?
More irony: They won't have enough time to cool the thing back down to near absolute zero because they have to shut it down for the winter.

Why do they have to shut it down for the winter?

They have a goal of making the worlds largest snow fort in winter.adciv wrote:Why do they have to shut it down for the winter?

Re: CERN - The Doom-bringer
The CNN article just mentioned it wouldn't be finished before the winter shutdown. Though this article mentions that the winter months are scheduled for "obligatory maintenance."
Re: CERN - The Doom-bringer
They shut it down because CERN shuts down for the winter. I've gathered that CERN shuts down during Europe's Winter months because of the increased cost of electricity from heating demands. It's a more opportune time to do maintenance.

Pity there isn't any such really large supercolliders in the United States. Heck, we could probably put it in New Mexico. No one would miss New Mexico.

Nah, Nevada. Then, if it disapears into a sargasso sea, we know Third Impact is imminent.

I thought about that, then I thought, Do I really want something to threaten Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, or the Grand Canyon? So, that's why I selected New Mexico.

Plus it has A History of that sort of thing.
"He who lives by the sword dies by my arrow."
"In your histories, there are continual justifications for all manner of hellish actions. Claims of nobility and heritage and honor to cover up every bit of genocide, assassination, and massacre. At least the Horde is honest in their naked lust for power."
