Re: 22/01/09 Don't get it
oh.. .and they changed the title of that article from "cuts risk of death" to 'Cut Health Risks"
I love that it's preserved in the comic in it's original form.

Re: 22/01/09 Don't get it
I've seen "lol" more times than I dare try to count. Today is the first time I've EVER witnessed "tl:dr". Apparently, I'm not spending enough of my time in forums. *hangs head in shame*
Seriously, though, I do get annoyed with over-abundant acronym use. I like lol because it's a quick way to portray that one finds something funny in a conversation, but most of the acronyms just seem lazy and needlessly confusing if one is sitting at a keyboard and not texting from a cell phone or something. I guess if everyone gets them, it's fun and complaining is needlessly fussy, but they've never really appealed to me.

Try "ha" or "hah"DanShive wrote:I like lol because it's a quick way to portray that one finds something funny in a conversation, but most of the acronyms just seem lazy and needlessly confusing if one is sitting at a keyboard and not texting from a cell phone or something.

Those both look sarcastic to me. I'm not entirely certain as to why... it might just be that laughter is a difficult emotion to capture in the form of simple dialogue. It actually feels more appropriate, at least in my opinion, to have some sort of abstraction to it.kaiju01 wrote:Try "ha" or "hah"

Wow, way to look like a total douche. Part of the reason why tl;dr is funny is because it is a stupid acronym. Get your head out of your butt and lrn 2 funnah.DanShive wrote:I've seen "lol" more times than I dare try to count. Today is the first time I've EVER witnessed "tl:dr". You obviously don't spend enough time around goons.DanShive wrote:I've seen "lol" more times than I dare try to count. Today is the first time I've EVER witnessed "tl:dr". Apparently, I'm not spending enough of my time in forums. *hangs head in shame*
Heh, blah blah blah, fuss fuss fuss. OH SHIT I SAID "HEH" INSTEAD OF "LOL!!11"I like lol because it's a quick way to portray that one finds something funny in a conversation

Holy crap. This is the response I get to that post? Seriously? First, I counter an assertion that "tl:dr" is as common as "lol". Then I explain my own dislike of acronym overuse while stating that they can be fun while essentially calling MYSELF needlessly fussy. The only thing that was mocking was the not spending enough time in forums statement, but is that really that harsh a statement? I mean, I'm here, aren't I?
I said earlier that the fact that it's an acronym does make this comic and the statement in general funnier, at least in theory. I AGREE with that. It's just that prior to this comic, I had never seen it before, and there was confusion. Based on my own experiences, it was obscure.
I'm sorry if I have offended, but if you want to point out behaving like a douche, there are others here far more deserving of the title. ...Well, mostly Mav. The rest of you seem alright, even if we don't get along. Liking me is not a prerequisite for being nice in general ^^;
PS - For the record, I'm not a furry. Not that anyone will believe that so long as I represent myself with a furball avatar, but really, animal head on an essentially human body covered with fur? In my opinion, not sexy at all. Nonetheless, Mav is being a jerk.
PPS - tl:dr reply in 3, 2...

Or so long as your main character has the habit of turning into a squirel. What was that quote?
Stop smiling.
I'd like to, but I can't.

Point taken. I think furry forms can be cool, cute and/or bad ass, but any realistic interpretation combined with anything sexual doesn't seem appealing. It's like, look at a wolf's face. That's not a kissable face ^^;adciv wrote:1...

Anyway, I really am sorry if I've offended. I've gotten used to offering up constructive criticism and personal opinions while in classes, and I sometimes forget to turn it off when I go online. For a comic like this, there will be moments that will be confusing for a fraction of the audience due to needing to know a reference, and that's how it should be. This is loosely based on Greg's life, and references to things are the nature of such a comic.
So again, I'm sorry.

The problem is that you post like a self-important douche. The delete key is your friend. I use it frequently, you should too.

What would help? I don't want to sound like a self-important jerk when sharing my opinions.
The irony here is that I actually have some serious self esteem and confidence issues, which is probably one of the reasons I come off as pretentious sometimes. I'm overly concerned with being as precise with my statements as possible and wind up being very wordy with lots of clarifications like "maybe", "sometimes", "in my opinion"... ^^;

You don't have to offend Mav for him to behave like a douche, he acts that way regardless.DanShive wrote:I'm sorry if I have offended, but if you want to point out behaving like a douche, there are others here far more deserving of the title. ...Well, mostly Mav.
Re: 22/01/09 Don't get it
It's true.
But let's be honest, most of you deserve it. <3
