See, and all this time, I thought it was the wench they have up in the front.
I would think Land Rover would qualify for the off-road qualification. Then, again, I get it confused with the Hummer. Or maybe they're one and the same.

... Sir that car does not have a wench, though if it did, yes, the appeal would indeed be obvious.

Took someone long enough to mention that.
Eh, I'd rather be going on foot where that guy is trying to take the Jeep. Much more fun for me.

That doesn't look like fun. Usually, at that point, you just get out of the vehicle and walk.
I'd kill SUV owners, luxury car owners and probably half the truck owning population these days, before taking out Jeep owners. But at the same time, I don't see the appeal. I'd get a horse before I got a jeep.

Re: What is the appeal of a Jeep?
I like jeeps but don't think I would want to own one. I have a friend with an '08 Rubicon and he loves it, but he paid dearly for it.
My daily driver is a Camry that gets 33 mpg. It's a great family car and suits my 50 mile daily commute just fine. Were I to drive anything I want it would be a Crew Cab diesel F250 with an 8' bed. Until then I manage with the wife's crew cab F150.

Haha, yeah, if I had a 50 mile commute, I would stick with something like a Camry or Accord anyway

Re: What is the appeal of a Jeep?
Those of you who don't understand the idea of off-roading have never been honest-to-god off-roading. I grew up in the mountains, so it's a bit of a past time for me. The calculation of where to put the tires, combined with the thrill of climbing places that most people can't is amazing. Not to mention the spectacular views that you end up seeing.
You do have to be careful with a Jeep because they can be top-heavy, but so can a truck or SUV. The benefits of the Jeep are that you can take off the top and the doors to experience the wind and feel like you're actually a part of the trail you're taking. Jeeps are also pretty powerful so they can climb hill sides easily. Plus, it's small, so if you're heading over rocky ground, you don't get your backend somewhere it isn't supposed to be.
