06/09/2009 - capturing their stunt doubles.

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Greg is fighter. I am fighter/rogue/ninja. (Also, Liz is Rogue, Karen is Ranger)
wow talk about a terriblt unbalanced party :) and why did you mulit into ninja? Exp hit is going to suck unless you keep the classes near same level and that just gimps you up.

And Dispel won't really work they are not illusions, and the magic items would be just fine. It's not disjunction. The greatest thing we did was captured a kobold once put all our gear we wanted replicated on him tossed the mirror in front of him and when the other kobold came out captured him too, did this twice more so everyone could have teh items they wanted and went about our merry little way. Key thing is to flesh to stone the mirror kobolds or incap them in a different way since if they die you lose the stuff.

Yes I am a D&D dork I deal with it.....
Apparently you've never used sneak attack with a great sword. Plus, with GM's permission, you can class into shandow dancer at 6th level, which gives hide in plain sight. And then get spring attack. I should also note that I already have improved feint and improved trip.

I played a Bard once... well... for 2 sessions before they hung him out to dry. I had a habit of actually signing... especially when they were trying to be sneaky.

Were you a deaf bard?

We've made a rule that no one can play as a bard because they all end up getting drunk and singing.

I don't know where you get your bards from, but people who play bards here rarely get drunk and sing. They do use coconuts for horses, but that's a different problem altogether.

I don't believe I know anyone in my area who plays D&D. My college roommate did, though. It looks fun.

That depends entirely on who you play with. DnD can be cruel and tragic, as well. I had a game that was promptly renamed Dungeons and Apathy, with the way the players were going about things.

It is simple as logging on to wizards.com and hitting up the community forums and seeing if anyone in your area has a group. Or your local hobby store is a good place. Odds are there are a ton of geeks either playing warhammer 40k or Magic or any number of games pasty people play. Oh and Liz and Co. are playing 3.5 there is a new edition now 4.0 it is a terrible version and I am sorry I run the thing :(

I haven't visited this board in ages and I'm sure many of you didn't miss me. Anyway, I am not trying to start an edition war here but I sincerely feel the need to ask this.

First and foremost, if you feel 4e is so terrible, why are you running it? Run another system.

Second, why do you feel it's terrible? I would like a legitimate answer, not the usual spouting of "If I wanted to play WoW, I'd play WoW"-type responses that make it quite clear that, no, you haven't actually played 4e.

I myself began biased against it but have reached the point where I wouldn't want to play 3.5 anymore. It's changed enough that it actually should be viewed as the different game that it actually is, but most of the changes have all been in the right direction.
"Or even worse are those times when I catch myself trying to twist his message to make it say what I want him to say, and then only hearing that. This can be a very subtle thing, and it is surprising how skillful I can be in doing it. Just by twisting his words a small amount, by distorting his meaning just a little, I can make it appear that he is not only saying the thing I want to hear, but that he is the person I want him to be." -Carl Rogers

Except the bit about WoW is fairly accurate. Seriously, DnD 4.0: The MMO.

Aside from the time I almost killed our paladin (which would have royally screwed us all) (mind control, it is fun).

Surrounded by 80 5HD mind flayers (or something like that). Small room. Nowhere to flee. Everyone expecting some long drawn out battle. My measly cleric casts Holy Word. GM: *shit*.

First off, I have played 4th and if you don't believe me I really dont give a shit. I would never compare D&D to WoW, I have an entirely different level of distain for that mess of a game. Anyhow back to D&D the board game, quite literaly since I now move spaces and not feet. I run it because I would rather run it than play it honestly, we played 3.5 to its death where it was not fun anymore. the challenge was coming up with twink powergaming combos you had not played before and it got tired. But that is a different story. 4e sucks now becuase well first off death is a lot harder now, roll under 10 3 times while incap? DEAD have a nice day. Ever try playing the BBEG (Big bad evil guy) and you hit the "striker" (because now all classes have a role they must adhere to) only to have the bard give him temp hp on to of the ones he already has so when you do hit you hit him for like 2 actual damage? Yeah not so fun. Want to make a magic item do you? SURE thing just come on over here and wait....oh i'm sorry you can't make taht it's level 5 and your level 4. You can make a potion at level 4 that gives resist 5 to one thing for a second or two if you want? The game has become too much like a board game, everything has been dumbed down to the point that everyone from the ages 3 and up can play it. Instead of a dice I wanna get a wheel and spin a number.
