07/09/2009 Short Fuse,

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Be thankful your car doesn't have Lucas electrical. Ozzy Osbourne says he was the Prince of Darkness in 1979, Lucas Electrical earned that reputation for their headlights before him. Ozzy wishes he could be that evil.

yes no V cars, that includes the Austin Martin, I have seen to many VEE DUBS at my dads work that they ran the oil or water out and most cars can handle a little bit of something like that but those dang Germans, it must be this temp and this temp only, overheat slightly and you engine is TOAST... and replacements are not cheap, also parts regardless of of what they are tend to be on the high side of ridiculously expensive... a merc came in and it needed new plugs, Bosch was the only maker of the type needed, and only sold thru dealers, and they take 2 per cylinder, so 16 of them at 30 bux apiece and thats not including the install time. with out the "free" maintenance offered by most of those brands people wouldn't buy the cars do to the very high maintenance costs. what sucks is being the son of a mechanic you tend to understand what goes in to most cars and the stupid ideas that some car makers make to get there cars in the shape they are in and tends to make you shy away from most problem cars and brands.

on a side note... yes I would love to have one of those cars, a Porsche or a Farrie or a lambo, hell even a BMW, but I don't have the money nor the desire to put up with the frailtys of those cars.

FFS, Germany, is there anything you don't regulate? I swear to god it seems like you regulate pooping, and you probably regulate sex, too, and you definitely regulate the manner and frequency in which the two come together...
nope we dont have sex-laws like these: http://www.netjeff.com/humor/item.cgi?file=SexLaws

and for the law against using the horn: at least i dont wake up on a sunday at 5am becaus some idiot thinks its funny. Its an emergency signal and should be used like one.

please tell me you dont let something like this drive on the streets in the US ...

and in defense of VW: i had in the last 2 years: 1 Golf IV, 1 Passat, 1 Touran, 1 Golf VI, and now a Caddy (child needs space). No problems with them at all. I have a sweet leasing deal with VW and get a new one for a good price every few month
my neighbor had an US-Pickup (Ford): build like a Tank and took almost as much Gas, needed 1 and a half parking spaces and could be heard from 2 streets away.

Oh, but I do. I have since got it "fixed" but the workforce that built it wasn't the most skilled. I'm fighting with the dash lights and alternator right now... Darn Northern Ireland-built cars.

also Porsche is German
Lamborghini (Audi also) is owned by VW and the Porsche-family holds a large portion of the VW stock

I was just working on my electrical nightmare. In the process of trying to change the alternator and a light bulb, my car destroyed its battery and knocked out the high beam indicator light. I have to have it towed to a mechanic to have them fix a routine job because if I try anything else I'm going to pull my hair out. Oh, the nearest mechanic that services my car is 90 miles away.

I feel your pain.

Hey, back in the day, Beetles were good cars. Not the New Beetle, mind you, the original '60s Beetles. I drove one for a bit when I was younger, and you could still find them reasonably cheaply, and it ran until it pretty much literally fell apart around me. Nice having a car you could repair with simple hand tools and duct tape, those days are long gone now, unfortunately. Great gas mileage, too, although if you wanted to go much faster than 60 mph you were SOL.

I took a good look at a New Beetle once and couldn't stop laughing. Somewhere along the way, VW has lost their goddamned minds. It might vaguely resemble a Beetle in shape, but New Beetles really aren't anything like their older brethren, they are simply a Jetta (I believe it is a Jetta, been a while since i checked the specs) with a funky looking shell on top.

But that is a rant I don't want to get into.
