How about Pepsi Raw, as it is called originally in the UK?
Although i would like to see Greg try to sniff the stuff - its like a reverse drink-sneeze (or laugh). prickling.

How about "The Patch"? Pepsi + Natch.
I think it's a fitting app for an addict.

Reader,
I share the same interest as Greg, in this comic. I like to shorten things down and have a pet peeve against words that are longer than they need to be. I like it when I can express a thought in as few syllables as possible. Thus, I find this joke amusing because I can relate to it.
I am in support of Pepsi Natch.
Sincerely,
Kraggh

What about Mellow Yellow? It doesn't fit your soft drink nomenclature rules. And what about the flavored drinks, like Pepsi Vanilla, or Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper?

Mellow Yellow also doesn't get SOLD around here. Pepsi Vanilla can be shortened down to just "Pepsi 'Nilla", which while it's not quite three syllables, rolls off the tongue better than the harsh 5-syllable "Pepsi Natural". And frankly, Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper doesn't have any reason to exist, anyway, let alone be shortened for use in everyday speech.
In short - 3 syllables best, 4 is tolerable... 5 is right out!

Not to mention that there's already a drink called Cocaine. I so wish I was kidding.
Pepsi 'Nach makes you sound like a surfer who's been hit in the head with his own board too often. Personally, I like Pepsi Raw, even if it's not technically accurate.
...So relieved to find I already had an account here. Such is the benefit of using the same name on every message board ever.

Well I thought it was funny.

Pepsi's making a drink with actual sugar? If they do that and coke doesn't they'll have a new convert.
What would I call a cola drink that uses sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup? Pepsi DRINKABLE.

Greg,
You have valid point about Mellow Yellow and Pepsi Nilla rolling off the tongue. If it can't be three syllables, then it had better roll off the tongue.
Sincerely,
Kraggh

Is there a way to correct the date for this thread since today is the 6th? I briefly got confused and thought I'd missed a comic.

Thanks to Hirschof for making my sig

Pepsi and Mountain Dew Throwback (made with real sugar) weren't bad...but (don't throw sharp objects at me Greg) I just didn't like the way they tasted compared to the real sugar Cokes I've had.
As to the whole Pepsi Natural thing...I got nothing for name suggestions.

I seem to recall referring to it as Greg's Holy Grail...
Re: 8/05/09 - all natural
The surprising part is they appear to be actually using cane/beet sugar, rather than invert syrup like Jones does (which is why Jones's ads are hilarious - invert syrup is from cane as opposed to corn, but it's not sucrose, it's fructose and glucose just like HFCS is, except the sweetness isn't rebalanced to taste like sugar - meaning Jones sodas actually don't taste like they're sweetened with sugar). Using raw sugar in a processing plant is a nightmare, since sugar syrup crystallizes (hence the entire draw of using HFCS - no, it's not all about the corn lobby). This stuff's going to be way expensive.Jirin wrote:Pepsi's making a drink with actual sugar? If they do that and coke doesn't they'll have a new convert.
Unless they're lying on their ingredients label, which wouldn't be the first time that happened.

Re: 8/05/09 - all natural
It's not JUST that it's made with sugar... (cane, BTW) - ALL the ingredients are natural in origin. Apple extract. Kola nut extract. Natural caramel. And it's not as expensive as you'd think - I found 4-packs at the local Nugget Market for 4.50... just a little over a buck a bottle. EXPENSIVE, yes. Incredibly expensive, no.
And it actually tastes pretty good, to boot. It tastes a bit appley at first, but if it's REALLY cold, it's quite delicious. Still not great for you, since it's not 0-calorie.. but whatevs.
