Hello I joined this forum to specifically talk about Stargate.
I like this new series and definitely excited to see how Eli's character develops.
Spoiler: (click to reveal/hide)I felt really sorry for him in Light. Damn that guy banged another soldier right before they leapt through the gate! And lied about it!
Do you guys think there is an unsettling resemblance to wormhole xtreme with SG:U?

Hi,
I have been reading the comics for a while now, thought I would take a look at the forum.
I am loving this new SG series, almost as much as SG-1
Destiny is by far the coolest ship ever, I had a suspicions it was going to somehow get energy from the star, then it flew straight through it, very cool indeed.
It's a 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a packet of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses. Hit it.

I thought it was a bit suspicious when both Rush and Eli were left on the Destiny.
And that's an interesting point about whether or not he knew the Destiny would survive...

Am I the only one thinking that SGU sounds like it should be a rival university of the Gurps game, IOU?

I don't think anybody's mentioned it yet, but I have to say that I'm really loving the music in this series. Seriously, I liked it so much that I looked up who has been composing it. I was stunned to find out that it is supposedly the same guy who composed the theme for SG1.
Also, though the show has been very top notch so far, I see one major flaw with it. There really aren't very many likeable characters. The only character I really like and want to succeed right now is Eli. Sam, Jack, Daniel, and Teal'c were the main reasons to watch SG1 regularly. You always wanted them to succeed. Seeing characters that you don't like struggling to succeed just isn't very compelling. I hope the people in the series grow on me a little more.

I disagree wholeheartedly. I actually like EVERYONE. Even GREER, and I thought he'd get on my goddamn nerves. Everyone has a role, and they do a damn good job filling them.

I watched "light" the other day and wondered how long its gonna take the two "brains" of the show to figure out they need to do more metathinking of the destiny's computer system and go looking for stuff. What brought me to this question was the fact that they had to do a risky and energy intensive slingshot maneuver. Shouldn't the destiny have protocol for recalling or matching trajectories?

Damn...
I must be in the minority around here...
SGU has not grabbed me at all over the first 10 episodes, I still cannot shake the 'Battlestar Destiny' feel of the show, and the fact that despite being on the otherside of the Universe heading away from Earth rather fast....they have a means with which to return to Earth whenever they want (in other people's bodies mind you but still), it kind of diminishes the effect of being cut off....though there is the entire psychological aspect to the stones.
I will give it a chance to grab in the back half of this season, but i'd like to see it go in the direction of less "We're running out of this, lets go explore this planet/Lets go back to Earth" episodes and more....I hate to use it...but more 'Stargatey' episodes..
New Direction is fine, but I find a distinct lack of what made Stargate one of my favourite Sci-Fi franchises...
Thats just my opinion on it anyway.
