Fantastic Moments in Gaming
So I'm playing TF2 in part due to the current Halloween thing they have going on. I change my nick from "Arc Orion" to "Rawr, I'm a Dinosaur!" It's an inside joke with myself and somebody else I was talking with while I played, so I thought it'd be cute to change my nick to it. The awesome thing is how suddenly several strangers in the game start changing their nicks....
"Oh no! A Dinosaur!"
"A Dinosaur? Where?"
"There's the Dinosaur!"
"A Dinosaur? Where?" changed to "Oh Wait, I see it now"
"There's the Dinosaur!" changed to "See? There you go"
Anyway, I just consider it completely awesome that folks played along and made their own joke out of it. Has anybody else had something similar happen while gaming? Any cool moves or humorous tales?

I paired up with a friend in a Medic/Heavy combo once and we changed our names to "Calin" and "Hobbes"... It was quite funny when we started killing people.

I was on 2 Fort, playing my newby Pyro, running into the Red base through the sewers. I enter their last pipe and at the far end is a Soldier. Oh no - too late to back out, I go "RAAAWRRRGGLEklfjdl" and charge, flamethrower blazing. He fires a rocket at my feet. I jump - the rocket explodes just behind and under me... Pyro takes a bit of damage, but is LAUNCHED THROUGH THE AIR spewing flames like an angry dragon at the Engineer's face.
I actually kill him before a Scout bonks me. XD

pl_goldrush area 1. A medic heavy über pair have just dropped from the upper level near the second checkpoint and cleaned out the area, now they start heading up the tunnel to cause a little havoc at our spawn. I'm playing heavy and chase them down the tunnel only to have all my ammo run out. Blocked from my nearest source of ammo and faced with no other options — I taunt; just as their über runs out the finger-gun fires and the attacking heavy cops it. The surprised medic is quickly mown down by my newly spawned teammates, and I can safely recharge my guns.

Re: Fantastic Moments in Gaming
Here's some of my favourite moments in TF2. One was during a 2Fort match, I was playing Sniper. There was a Demoman who had placed some sticky bombs and was preparing to pipebomb jump. A split second before he detonated them, I shot him, but didn't kill him, but it was enough that when he detonated the bombs, he simply exploded on the spot
Something similar was when a Demo was trying to pipebomb jump, but used a few too many bombs and the wrong angle. He simply shot up into the sky, then after a few seconds of hang-time, fell back down and died
Really, any time you see a Demo falling to their deaths pipebomb jumping is funny.
Another was when I was playing Pyro I'm charging the BLU base when two snipers drop down in front of me. One throws a Jarate at me, and I manage to reflect it with my compression blast, Jarate-ing the two snipers and giving them a taste of their own medicine
I also love those moments when you're playing Pyro and reflecting rockets back at Soldiers when you miss, and accidentally kill someone else on their team (usually a Medic).
Has anyone else noticed Engies have a tendency for hoe-downs? It seems that if there's a group of Engies and one of them starts dancing, you can bet the others will join in and will continue this for a good while.

Boyfriend and I were questing near the Wyrmrest Temple in Dragonblight. We were 74's or so at the time (BE pallies). All of a sudden this 80 night elf rogue saps me and starts attacking. We killed him and go on with our quest. He finds us again and attacks again. We kill him again. The third time, he started running before he died then went stealth. He thought he could kill us easy. He did end up figuring out how to kill both of us and got us a couple times before we called in another 80 nearby so we could finish our quest.

Thanks to Hirschof for making my sig

For the same reason that Pryos are, by law, obliged to get out their axe and taunt at the gates at the beginning of a match.FireAza wrote:Has anyone else noticed Engies have a tendency for hoe-downs? That's probably more because the axe guitar taunt is just bad-ass.

Any time in AO when you were an Engineer and you commanded your bot to attack something on the other side of a box or table.
Any time in old versions of D&D (well 1st and 2nd anyway) you needed to make a saving throw and the DM made you use a D30.
When your squad of Terminators is wiped out by a half brood of gaunts (I still sigh over that one)
When you are playing Warhammer 40k with a really nerdy kid and he gets mad because you think a shot penetrated his tank's armor, and in response he screams out at the game store: PENETRATING MY ASS!

I was playing Starfox and I heard this shout: "Do a barrel roll!"
So I did it.
It was awesome.
