Re: Enter the Matrix
I saw some one play it on X-box. It looks really good from what I have seen if you like 1st person shooters. I think some one the moves are overdone. And also the game seemed really easy because the security guards couldnt slow down time and you can automaticaly heal yourself really fast. But then again, that was the first level.

Re: Enter the Matrix
I rented it for the Xbox and I'd advise people to avoid buying it at all costs. The fighting is entertaining, it's not particularly good, but it's entertaining. It has numerous flaws though...
1. It was obviously rushed, it's very buggy
2. The collision detection is positively awful
3. The driving and shooting levels (driving in particular) are utter crap
4. The level design is bland and generally poor
5. The camera is typically pants
6. The controls are nowhere near as intuitive as they should be
7. The graphics are awful
I think I've covered it all, anyway, unless you love the Matrix and see it very cheap, don't bother.

ModoX covered everything here, I bought it for gamecube, and I'm not happy.. I'm going to sell it, hopefully on ebay, maybe get something good, no reserve..
and then I'll go buy metroid prime or hell, ANYTHING..

i played this the other day @ an eb, and as soon as i engaged a security guard, this was the first thing that came to my mind
" WHAT THE F*** WERE THE WACHOWSKIS THINKING WITH THIS IDIOTIC CAMERA?"
i talked to my friend (who is the biggest matrix fanboy ive yet to find), he said that the camera is there for "style". Whatever, i still say it sucks
and ill probably get this game when it hits bargain bin, which shouldnt be too long

Might I ask which version of they game you all are playing? Because I'm playing the PS2 version and have encountered absolutely no problems. I've heard the XBOX and PC versions are really buggy, maybe that's the problem.
And the Kung-Fu is better than in most Kung-Fu games, I thought. And the Hacking option is pure genius. Of only real hacking were this easy, or could make weapons appear out of nowhere...

I liked playing this game. The hacking was easy. After I beat it I got the sword trainer on that was fun
then you can also get the bonus stage and after you kill 20 of those guys with the different weapons you can access the other door and fight swat npcs to your hearts content. I recommend putting the infinite ammo code here hehehe *fwoom!* KABOOM! Focus mode is fun once you figure out how to do all the cool martial arts and fun up walls. As they say most people who are not matrix fans will not really like this game. I did like it though.

Hey guys, let's not diss Enter the Matrix.
LET'S FRIGGIN BURN IT
God. I mean, it's good to see the makers put in cutscenes. Because frankly, I got to see Ghost. Why is that so vital? Because he's a ninja. But that's where the fun ends.
Oh, and seeing Naiobi was. Um...highly entertaining? (God bless tight clothes)
Ok, so here's my rating of the game. Everythings out of a possible 10, 10 being the best.
Graphics: 7
The graphics were good, but unfortunately even non-graphic whores like me know that more is required these days. It's sorta like when Atari baseball came out. I mean, printed 2d figures with 2 animations was friggin awesome, but it gets old after a while. Wait, bad example. 2d figures NEVER get old.
Sound: 0
I got the computer version (only because I was positive I'd be able to sell it for more after I played it) and the sound quality was TERRIBLE. Not that it scratched or anything, but the sound lagged behind the movie, much like a lot of movies using DivX because of the way the audio/video tracks are layered (I think? gonna need correction here probably).
Cutscenes: A gagillion
This was the ONLY good part of the game (or should I say "interactive movie?" Ah. You decide). I mean, I didn't pay attention to the movie at all, except for the good (erotic) parts, like when the chick with the rack in the bathroom was like "Kiss me Neo" and then Neo was like "I know kung-fu". So when she kissed Ghost in the game, I was totally hooked to the screen. I mean, an Asian NINJA with a mustache?! How could I resist!? (Oh, and I heard that very same chick kisses both Naiobi AND Trinity)
Playability: 5
This can go either way. Some people say the Focus system is revolutionary, I say it's Max Payne. Some people say the Kung-Fu is cool, I say it's Kung-Fu for NES. So what do I do here? I give it a 5, because when you rate something with a 5, everybody knows you really wanna say it sucks but just can't get it out.
Overall concept: 7
This game tried to be down-to-the-letter when it was following the movie's background plot. Because of the Matrix's cool nature and fighting, the game could be accurate while fun. Though it turned out pretty bad, the grade for this area is derrived entirely on concept. Spider-Man did this before, so that lowers the grade a bit, but the idea behind Enter the Matrix was pretty good, and I'm eagerly awaiting a sequel.
Overall grade: 3
Although my review had no overall negative theme, I figured the less I said ETM sucked, the less of a chance the Wachowski brothers would hunt me down with their new fleet of BMWs
. Coming to a close, however, all of the bad things in this game came together to make the gaming equivalent of an F5 tornado filled with cows and septic tanks hurtling right into a nuclear waste plant. The terrible camera, awkward driving physics (I'm a GT3 whore), flimsy feel of the guns and terribly animated cutscenes (like the first one where Ghost is checking his guns for no reason other than to show off a scene animated in a record-breaking 6 nanoseconds) just decimated any chance of this game being good.
My verdict:
Unless you REALLY like the movie, I suggest you buy the game, burn it, return the ashes and say God came down and smote the thing.

I played the PS2 versoim, and as usual it was consoley, i.e. dumbed down and really awkward to control. I played the PC verion and the graphics were nicer, but I was playing it on my friends PC of death, I doubt mine would do that. However, I was playing multiplayer. It was the best thing ever. I've heard the single player is a bit pointless, though.
Sloth: Am I a year behind already?

February was some lyrics or quotes month or something. I don't even remember what year all this was.

peter-griffin, you might be seeing the same problems I am with the sound. I don't believe it's the sound that's the problem, it's actually the cut-scenes running at about twice the speed they should. Sometimes it works just fine and the lip-sync and everything is as it should be.
I reckon the reason they chose the game engine they did was so that it'd be easier to get the thing to run (and look reasonable) on all the platforms they chose to release it on. My system is bordering on low-end these days and it ran just fine with all the spangly bits turned on. I'd much prefer a game with graphics that aren't quite cutting edge and will run at 50fps+ on my system, rather than a game with awe-inspiring graphics that will run at most 5fps. I think they got it right.
I still load the game up just to fight the agent in the back of the 'plane. I can't help but grin inanely...
