Wasn't the previous Civ game console-only? Well anyway, if this one is PC-exclusive, it'll end up getting pirated to hell and the developers will announce they will no longer be doing PC-exclusive games anymore.

civ 4 was for pc, and just recently Beyond the Sword was ported to mac

I know all this because my best friend is obsessed with Civ

FireAza is referring to Civilization Revolution, which doesn't really play quite like a standard Civ game. At least, that's what I've heard. I haven't actually played it so I could be way off.

Civ Rev is a more streamlined experience. But in a good way. It's streamlined more to be designed for shorter games, rather than making unnecessary concessions for consoles.

I have it for the DS. It's a much simpler game. For something you play while on a bus or waiting in a lobby it's a good fit.

They just announced that Civ 5 is going to be steamworks only, kind of like HL2 was. Im a big user of steam so I'm pretty happy about that, DRM wise it makes it pretty painless compared to other shit that's out there.

*Got his preorder in already* :D

On god, I was reading the shit-storm that ensued over at Civ Fanatics when the Steam announcement was made. Funny as hell.

It would still be nice to some time down the line have a totally clean version like they've done with Civ IV though, just in case offline mode fails. Less likely though as it's Steamworks and not just Steam.

So there's not going to be a CD version of Civilization V? Did I read that correctly?

No. You can get a CD/DVD person, but you'll need Steam for initial activation.

I might do that, but only because I have the physical media for Civ 2, 3, and 4. Other than that, Steam is teh r0xx0r.

I saw a date of November 5th at Gamestop. Looks like I'll be spending Christmas conquering France. Again!
