I would. He may have given up a cheap goal early on, but in the second half he made a very tough save that kept the game tied. Considering the magnitude of the first goal, that shows quite an ability to rebound in a pressure situation. Altidore's scoring chance in the second half would have beaten a number of keepers.

By the way, that Altidore is really damn good. When did we start producing pitch footballers who can play like that?

Also: I'm not the first to say this, but Slovenia's uniforms look like Charlie Brown's shirt. Kind of funny considering the sport is called football.

Yes, I realized after I posted and on my way to a very long 10 hour work evening. Gods am I an idiot.

Not as big of an idiot as the Slovenia player, Kuzmanovic, who had committed the foul in the penalty box area to allow Ghana to score the winning goal. (Best named player so far: Algeria's goalie, Faouzi Chaouchi. Sounds like an Italian Chia pet.)

By the way, are all of the games going to be 1-0, 1-1, 0-0 scores? I'd rather have one of those South African horns blow into my good ear than having to endure another 1-1 nail-biter. (And the soon those horns are banned, the better.)

Nah, he's more along the lines of a Romulan.

My curiosity has gotten the better of me: how? I don't know the Star Trek universe very well...

Among other things. Or maybe I should have said a Cardasian of the Obsidian Order?

Deacon, think cold hearted KGB commander and you have the template for your average high ranking Romulan. Take it up a couple of notches and you have the Cardasians who make Mengele look like the Good Samaritan.

Great comeback to draw... but it should have been a win. What a bullshit off sides call on the scoring header.

Hirschof, I think that was all leg btw.

Bitter as I was about the goal being nixed, I am still quite happy considering that I woke up to the US down 2 at the half.
