Oh, I will be getting it, no doubt. But I think you're confusing "heart-wrenching" with "completely unnerving in all the best and worst ways possible".

Re: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
I really haven't been blown away by the range of 'next-gen' (or whatever) games so far.
What am I missing? Any suggestions? I resent paying fifty bucks for The Order when it's getting 3 out of 5s.

Re: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
I haven't found a single game made for the current generation of console worth buying. Actually, I don't think I have bought an AAA game in over a year. Everything I get now is indie or just same publisher game.
Well, I might buy DA: Inquisition in a month or two when I get a graphics card to run it.

I am looking forward to Halo 5, but only because I'm like a crack addict with that series. Other than that, there's nothing out there that's making me want to drop my drawers to earn money to pay for it. I would like to give Titanfall and Destiny a go, but I'm in no rush.

Destiny is beautiful but it's like being in a new school where everyone is a new pupil, no-one knows anyone else, and none of the teachers can be bothered organising any ice-breaking activities.

Re: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
So what's the best console to grab right now? I've been thinking about grabbing one for myself with the added bonus of involving my son (2 years old) as he gets older. Never been a huge fan of consoles for most of the games I like but I'd like a platform that has games I can involve my wife and kid on. Do the PS4 and XBOne have a decent selection of stuff my wife and kid might like to play or is that pretty much Wii U territory?
Right now I'm addicted to steam and currently snagging older FPS titles on the weekend and midweek sales. I've been playing through the Crysis series, currently working on warhead but I've finished 1 and 2. Amazing game play and decent graphics even though 1 came out in 2007. I'll play through Crysis 3 next and then probably move on to the Medal of Honor: Modern Warfare series or Battlefield 3.

So like every dance I went to in High School. Sounds like fun!Rorschach wrote:Destiny is beautiful but it's like being in a new school where everyone is a new pupil, no-one knows anyone else, and none of the teachers can be bothered organising any ice-breaking activities.
Raptor: most games are cross-platform for PS4 and XB1 and performance-wise you're on a par, so if you can only choose one console, go with the one whose exclusive games are your fetish. I haven't played on a Wii-U yet, so I can't make an informed decision there.

Re: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
There is the problem with Wii U right now, and really the Wii in the past. They have some great party games and games made for a niche audience, yet they can't get any amazing third-party AAA games to sell the console. I would go with that JermCool said and get the ones with the exclusive game you enjoy.raptor9k wrote:Do the PS4 and XBOne have a decent selection of stuff my wife and kid might like to play or is that pretty much Wii U territory?

Re: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Bloodborne is PS4 exclusive, and everyone needs to play that game.raptor9k wrote:So what's the best console to grab right now?
Other than the Halo series, there isn't anything X-Box exclusive that I miss, and everything else is basically cross-platform and identical on each (in the case of Assassins Creed Unity that's doubly true, since they gimped the PS4 version so the XBone could keep up with the game).
But Bloodborne. If you've enjoyed the Demon's/Dark Souls series you need this game. Otherwise it's basically just the 3D Castlevania game that we never got and always wanted.

I'm torn about Watchdogs. It's going for a good price but seems to have kind of mixed reviews. Someone order me around and stuff.

Not impressed with the dearth of good games but I am stoked at a couple of future releases. Your post reminding me about one I'd them: the new Deus Ex game. I loved the last one.

I have never played any of the Deux Ex games for all the good reviews I hear about it. For some reason that aesthetic makes me look the other way.

Yeah, you know, I kind of get what you're saying although I can't quite put my finger on what specifically was a little jarring. Was it the shininess maybe? Anyway, it's worth playing.
I've just got Murdered: Soul Survivor. In truth, I'm telling myself it's awesome, but it's kind of boring at the moment.
