I believe in the existence of the soul because to believe anything else is to render my life insignificant in the grand scheme of things. Also, I have had feelings from time to time that I cannot explain. It is almost as if I connect with something not of this world, if only for a few minutes.
I know this is probably going to sound retarded, but... do any of you ever get headaches that feel good? Sometimes I get this weird feeling in my head and it's really nice. It can be triggered by a lot of things... the comforting sound of a familiar voice, listening to someone struggle with a math problem, eating fish while reading a biography of Ben Franklin, or just recognizing the inner peace and love present in a room full of chaotic and noisy strangers. When I get this feeling while talking to somebody, I just want to stop talking and savor the moment, knowing we are friends and always will be. It's like I'm "high on life"
It may sound like I'm just tired, but it's not a feeling of fatigue at all. If anything I am more alive than ever during these times. If I am jolted out of it or made to do some physically demanding activity, it goes away. But if I just sit there looking around and taking it all in, I can prolong it so it lasts maybe five minutes, tops. I would like to believe this experience is spiritual, but it's probably not.

I wouldn't call it a headache, but yes, I know what you mean. Now, I've gotten these lots of random times, but they're usually either when I'm really thinking about something important, and something odd and familiar happens that suddenly calms me, or they'll happen often when I'm thinking or talking or reading religion. I've come to associate them with religious experiences, but that may not make sense to those of you who are not religious. That's just what I feel they are. The presence of God.I know this is probably going to sound retarded, but... do any of you ever get headaches that feel good? Sometimes I get this weird feeling in my head and it's really nice. Astral Projection.............or Schizophrenia?
[/quote]
I don't know why but for some reason this extremely offended me. Not quite as nuts as being called nuts but I'm not going to get into that. But we all have our own beliefs systems and far be it for me to tell you that you're wrong Skand, cause that could be what you honestly believe. More power to ya.
I'm out.

I'm out.

Mmmm Christmas! The time for giving, sharing, and TURKEY! ¬¬ What?! Why are you looking at me like that?
Well at least Blaze was paying attention.
Incase you missed it I offered 2 other possiblities as well not just schizophrenia, but past lives and lucid dreaming. Just because I don't agree with you seems a pretty petty reason to stop posting in a thread. I mean I'm sorry to break it to you. But on the whole Astral Projection Believers vs Non Believers, I'm gonna say your a bit out numbered. But hey don't let that stop you from believing in what you want to. Just don't get all pissy if I choose to place my ideas and beliefs over yours based on my own opinion and research.
oh and for the record!

Skand, I was intrigued by your post, but too busy arguing with Blaze to reply. Sorry.
Just wanted to point out that your post could be turned around. All sufferers of schizophrenia could in fact have spontaneous involuntary out of body experiences. I'm also certain that I'm not the first to theorize that when we dream, we're actually visiting another plane of existence, even if it's one we've created ourselves.
After all, like Blaze was clever enough to point out, the only way we can define reality is by what most people agree on. If someone perceives something, you could argue that in some way or another, it exists. Perhaps everybody is under illusion except those locked up in mental institutions for seeing things...or perhaps every perception is somehow real merely because it was perceived, even if it conflicts with another perception.
There's that whole 'tree falls in a forest, does it make a sound?' question. You could theorize that the only reality that exists is that which is perceived, meaning that if no one is around to perceive something, it does not exist.
Who the hell knows?
