Ho-lee crap

Its like they took everything that was good with the PS2 and then made it better!

too bad i already have a PS2 and technically couldnt REALLY afford that one... (I bought it anyways though =P)

I can't wait. Only one problem: The original 8MB memory card will not be supported, from what I've read.

The first thing I noticed was that it lacks component video. Why on earth would they not include that? Not that I use component video with my PS2, such an honor is reserved for my XBox, but some people might want to use their PSX to watch movies and such.

How can they not support the 8mb memory card :( Thats so unfair

Theres no emoticon for what I am feeling; I need to get that and find a way to hybrid the psx and ps2 to make the PSXSM, then it'll hold the 8mb memory card

I wouldn't call this a games console.

I'd call it a Home Entertainment Centre - Including the PlayStation 2.

It's really being aimed at those who want a Home Entertainment setup, and don't have a PS2...

The... controller ports are on the back... how do they work when it's standing upright?

Looking at the pic, it looks like the upright way that it stands lets controllers roam free.

Further, the ports on the back are just more incentive to go wireless (or get controller extenders.).

Lastly- The internal HD will, more than likely, be able to hold the ol' PS1 saves. I predict software for precisely that purpose within 3 months of it coming out.

One other thing to take note of: The way the controller ports are set up there is no way to connect a Multitap.

No current way. If theres a demand for something, companies will make it. If theres a demand for a multitap for the PSX, then companies will produce such a thing.

That they will, but you've got to remember that the primary function of the PSX is not that of a games console.

The fact that there is a PS2 inside it is seconday to all of the other features in there.

and the fact that you have to pay another $45 for another multitap is another $45 Sony didn't have before. :P
