Okay, no rust is a good thing. But it'll still take a LOT of cash and time to get it roadworthy, let alone nice looking :?

2000 Pontiac GrandAm GT coupe. (yes the GT part is important)
3.4 Liter V6 w/ ram air
Alloy wheels
CD player

It goes nice and fast, has lots of torque, gets good gas mileage and is comfy! What more can I ask.

Pic taken at the old shanty parking lot in Canada.

The ones with the real power are the Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Supercharged coupes. Hehe, they're fun to play against. Though, they don't have tooo much boost running through 'em. But gotta love that supercharger whine.

Jaybo: Nice seats, how much did those run ya? And is it all look or have you added something to make it go faster as well? Oddly enough, my grandma drives that same car in blue [Wait! Hers has a sunroof too] ;-) Let's leave it at I know what they can and can't do.

TheScaryOne: Agreed, hence my comments on Rice, and what cars I can and cannot respect.

HemiCuda: By "pop off valve", do you mean a "Blow Off Valve". IF so, that's one of my coming upgrades... they're so nice, boost by someone, drop the clutch, and hear that "pssstttttt" I love it.

MB: Very good point, I hadn't thought about that. and sidenote I HATE SUVs

elturcin: Yeah, I know I'm a bastard. But it's fun though...

Do you think I'd spend a few thousand more to get caught by the cops more quickly like all these little Fast and Furious disciples?

I could have not decorated it if you think it looks better without. It's not like I'm dumb enough to throw a body kit on the thing.

Lay off -I like Black+Red alright? Like MissCheetah's, it has plenty of pickup. Wait till you try a Pontiac GTO 2004. It's coming I think I heard with 340 hp.

I like the stock look of my Camaro (which is getting washed this weekend, something its needed for a few weeks now, but with the unpredictable weather recently I've not wanted to wash it and have it rain the next day), and it will remain looking like the stock Z28 SS, no matter what my brother thinks would look cool. I bought the car for fun driving and to own a little piece of Americana, not to blow the doors off of everything else out there. Among other things, he won't stop talking about how his old boss's Nissan 350Z with another $5000 or so in mods is so much faster than my car. (Said former boss also owns a performance shop. Go figure.) He also keeps trying to push this particular set of tires on me for which I a) don't have a need for another 25K miles or so and b) don't want to pay $300+ each for a 20K mile rating. I swear sometimes that he get commissions.

That being said, she's not staying stock. Among other things I need to get (once the money comes in, which never seems to happen) are the cold air intake, a couple of items for the overall ignition system, and (new on the list) something to smooth out the ride for long trips. Feeling the road is nice for drives up to about 50 miles, but on those 400-mile drives up to NorCal, it gets really tedious.

I'm also looking into various code readers. If anyone has any suggestions (universals would be nice, as I like to spread the capabilities to friends owning non-GM cars), please drop me a note. Anything with a PC interface gets bonus points.
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

I've got a 97 6cyl camaro. Yes, not a Z, but much more affordable. Not much done to it, changed the muffler to a flowmaster to make it sound purty. Went a bit overboard with the sound system and I think I'm actually going to be toning that down. Speakers look stock, but in the cargo space where the t-tops go I've got 2 12" in subs hiding below which is 1600watts of power (1200 to the subs, 400 to 6 speakers in the car). The problem is I have kind of grown out of the "I like to set off car alarms with my music" phase and it's just annoying heh. All in all a very fun car to drive, and I never will get anything either under 6 cyliders or under 200 horsepower *ever.* It's not just speed, but liveliness.

Hehe, on another note, I pulled up at a stop light next to someone in a civic that had a spoiler, racing stripe, type r plastered on it, the works. The dingus had his windows rolled down and his little factory stereo cranked high and sounding awful. I motioned to him and he turned the stereo down. I called over, "Hey, nice looking car, but it's still just a honda civic!" Hehe he was sooooo pissed lol. He tried to floor it and pull ahead of me and cut me off. Did he? Of course not, after all, it still was a honda civic. :D

Kuronekosama: ...12" subs are too large. Especiall for a coupe. Seriously, the wave-form for a punch from a 12" sub is 1.5 -> 1.75 carlengths. Hence, you can't feel the "real" bass inside the car. I mean, 12" & 15" subs, would be good for inside a schoolbus [cue crazy idea]. Honestly, people who think "the bigger the better" when it comes to subwoofers, really need to do their homework, the dual bandpass 10"'ers do great for good in car audio, and have minimal spalsh outside of the interior usually offering anywhere from .75 -> 1 carlength wave-forms.
10"s are nice when:
1) You prefer to feel the bass in the car, not 2 carlengths outside it.
2) You like HIGH quality music, not just Bass Drops
3) You don't have a "look at me, look at me" complex
4) You go to sleep at night knowing your neighbors aren't planning your murder for waking them up at 2am after your early morning cruising session.

Ya want a real way to piss off rice boys, roll up and repeat the following.
· "Hey, ya wanna go?"
· [a form of "yes" is expected her]
· "Ok, let's go, o wait... take your moms car home, ask her to extend your
curfew, then bring out your real car, then we'll race."
· Cue Laughter.
· Drive Off. [Smokin' the tires if at all possible, while leaving them in the dust]

MB: Likewise, so far you're the contender for someone I'd run against :-) With some shims on my turbo, I lay waste to SS's in the quarter mile, but you've got an overall top speed that's better than my own. Hmm, *tries to remember* I don't recall the upgrade path for the Camaro line, but for my car it's Intake, Exhaust, Boost Controller. So, hmm, good luck with the intake, do you plan on doing exhaust?
As for code readers... hehe, ya wanna know how we get 'em out of supras? You open the diag block, short out 2 pins, and the check engine light, blinks back the code to yea. It's annoying as unholy f*k trying to count the blinks, lemme tell yea... I'm 99% sure you can't do this with newer cars... anywho...

Hehe like I said I've grown out of that phase. I remember having some fun with it, but it's not me anymore. I had a single 12 in there before getting 275 watts and it sounded extremely nice with the rest of the similarly reduced system. I really like the low frequency response of the 12" since I do like some electronic music. I'm probably going to go back to that whenever I get around to it. Hehehe, anyone wanna buy a custom fit camaro box? ^^

Martin, I suggest STRONGLY that you look into Lingenfelter parts. You can get them to mail you a parts catalog for free if you enter your addy info on their website. I haven't gotten any junk mail from them, either :) They have TONS of stuff for GM cars back to '82, I think. (*grumbles* but not to '81...) Anyways, It's worth looking into, as they've got decent prices on things as well :)
