How did you get into webcomics in the first place?

My friend Jeff and I were talking online about 3 - 4 years ago and he quoted Penny Arcade. I didn't understand and he sent me the link to PA and told me to read the archive or die. I was addicted. Then my friend Brian sent me a link to Real Life and I got hooked.

Well, I was surfing along innocently enough until a LiveJournal friend of mine posted a few Penny Arcade strips in his journal... now, this got me interested, he gave me the link, and I found Penny Arcade to be quite interesting. Megatokyo came next, followed by Real Life... I read those three for a while, and then stopped... just as I stop everything that I do online.

I came back, and picked up PA and RL (but not MT... too much story to catch up on -_-) and I also picked up RPG World. Just this past weekend, I was introduced to PVP by the people on the channel, and I also read a webcomic called Purple Pussy (it's about a CAT, you pervs!) which is the most RANDOM thing I have ever read. It's fucking HILARIOUS! I'm gonna try to work my way up to more webcomics, but it's going to be hard enough remembering when the 5 I read right now update.

I like to rank them as follows: RL = PVP > Purple Pussy > PA > RPGWorld. RL and PVP are equal because they're both updated quite often, and are both fuggin hilarious. Purple Pussy is really random, and PA is only down low because it didn't go above the others. (That sounds obvious, but it makes sense to me.) RPGWorld has lost its flair, I think... a lot of the archived stories and strips seem to be better to me than the ones that he's currently producing... the art is great, but the writing doesn't seem to be as good to me.

OK, sorry for totally deviating from the original aim of the topic... I just had to say all that. O_o

I read Foxtrot, and when foxtrot.com went down, I started to read Bill Amend's news page. One day he had a link to the "spider-man" comic, and I was hooked. I was afraid to click any of those links on the left on the while, and one day I took the leap. Now I have my own webcomic, I'm browsing forums. I've never looked back.

My name is Jonn Wood, and I read webcomics.

Note: I think the rankings, in terms of popularity, of the big 5 are;

PA>MT>RW>RL/MH

In terms of actual quality;

MT>RL>MH>RW>RL.

You may flame me now.

I first got into webcomics when the DungeonSiege homepage linked to a relevant comic at Angst Technology (Inktank). After that, I found RL linked from Inktank and vwhallah

Last August, I found a link to Megatokyo...proceeded to read it all in one day, the started sketching again and suddenly realized I COULD DRAW :shock:

So what did I do then? Proceeded to read every major one I could find. Saw Greg's Megatokyo guest comic and found my way here. Read the archives and found that Real Life takes place here in Sactown.

After that I was hooked.

Actually, I started with User-Friendly...which I've been reading for about two years. Then came along Nuklear Power, then Real Life. Eventually came along the rest, but now, I must say that I enjoy MegaTokyo the most, although Real Life is the only one that comes close.

Flame me, please.

Real Life was my first webcomic that i've read, then Megatokyo, and then I'm not sure after that.

I'm surprised that nobody mentions gpf-comics. Am I the only one to be a big fan of Fooker?

Hmmm... I remember the path in great detail, actually.

I did a google search for Rurouni Kenshin manga reviews.

I found a site that recommended Hikaru no Go, since it was "the best since Kenshin"... (hence the hit).

Looked for translations of that, ended up at a major translation site.

One day much later they posted an update in l33t, which at the time I couldn't read. They linked to Megatokyo for an explanation, I followed the link because I didn't want to feel like an n00b, and from there I went on to RL. (And lots more after that.)

I'm sure you all wanted to know in such great detail. :shifty:
