Ibraheem Shakfeh's Excelent Idea for Greg

Talk about today's strip, or anything about the comic in general. You can also talk about any of the characters... but don't expect a response. They're FICTIONAL, you guys... sheesh. :)

Ibraheem Shakfeh's Excelent Idea for Greg

Post by Bjarni Herjolfsson » Tue Jun 03, 2003 12:35 pm

There are an average of 40000 people that read the comic on weekdays. About 10000 of those people are sort of "loyalists". They tell their friends about RL and stuff. So when I saw this image Image on some one's sig, I thought of the Reallife Buddy Icon. If about 5000 of those 10000 "loyalists" use it, everyone they talk to will notice reallife comics. Then some of them will use the buddy icon then more come...etc. Traffic will increase heavily and therefor advertising space on Reallifecomics.com will be higher demand and a higher value. The only problem is Im not sure the reallife server can handle traffic that is heavy. Anyway, its a good way to get free advertising for RealLife.

Are you referring to using it as an IM avatar?
If I show up at your door, chances are you did something to bring me there.

His idea is actually very, very good. But I'm too lazy to have any icons for my AIM... ^.^;

First, I'd have to save it to my hard drive. Second, I'd have to locate the AIM Icon feature in Trillian.

EDIT: Due to AIM's filesize limits, I used the RealLife logo at the top of the SubSilver theme.

Firstly that looks too large for an IM avatar. Secondly, there is no link to the website on that image. And thirdly, not all IMs allow people to use an avatar (the only common one that does is AIM).

Well Greg's server can't handle it. But you are welcome to make your own buddy icons for AIM and use them yourself... AIM icons don't need to be hosted somewhere. They are on your computer.

some people obviously didnt understand the point of this such as people like Mandor. I may have been unclear. Anyway, the picture I posted was the inspiration to the idea. Greg or some one helping Greg could make the buddy icons (IM Avatars) to use for free advertisement for RealLife.
