the master sword was the sword used in zelda:ocarina of time to transport link back and forth over the time span of 7 years. it is a special sword that only he could pull out of the stone hidden in the temple of time, because he is the hero of hyrule. but i guess if you didn't know that, then you must not be a zelda fan and probably have no idea what i'm talking about.
I thought it was the Ocarina itself.
It qualifies as a weapon, so you do not neet a license to purchase one, but to possess (on your person) or conceal in public you need a license (in some places, in others the laws are more lax). Nowhere I know of can you carry a concealed weapon (including a pocket knife) without a license. If you are caught, you can be charged.
How can you carry a concealed sword? Personally, I'd like to have the Daredevil club with a lightsaber innit. I'd just tell airport security it's deodorant.

The Ocarina lets you open the Door of Time (along with the 3 Spiritual Stones) Once the Door is opened, then you pull the Master Sword out for the first time, landing you 7 years in the future.

Why should you be shocked by this comment coming from Soth? He's continuously talking like that just because he's got something to make up for...

FYI, the Master Sword that Greg has, is the one from A Link to the Past. The one in OOT and WW look different

Concerning the possession of weapons: It is perfectly legal to own as many knives, swords, axes, or other weapons as you want. However, in order to carry them around in public you must acquire a special license that certifies you as trained in the proper use of the weapon. Gun training is generally easier to get, thus making a gun license easier to get. Getting proper training with a sword is a bit more difficult, and being self-trained doesn't count because they don't actually have a test for the license. It's also worth noting that the bit about concealed weapons isn't the same in every state.
Not in California. Well, knives maybe. But carrying a sheathed sword openly is not a crime. It's just foolish.
actually I've looked at the CA Penal code and in the appropriate sections (171b, 262, 12120), and it doesn't say anything about it being sheathed...
While you're prohibited from carrying a blade longer than 2.5" on or near a school campus, 4" or longer in a State or Public Building, or conceal any stabbing weapon, it seems to me to be perfectly legal to go wandering down main street with a Broadsword on your back or hip in plain view, unsheathed, without any licence, provided you don't threaten anybody with it. And even then, it's the threatening that's illegal, not the posession...
Granted, depending on how you're dressed, cops are likely to FIND something you're doing wrong to get you off the street, but they can't bust you for the sword...
Oh, and you conceal a sword by putting it under a trench coat, cloak, jacket, or other overgarment; one of these days i'm going to have to get a concealed weapons permit so i can wear my sword & cloak at the same time...

I'm sure the rules are a bit different at Ren Faires, but here in Vegas. You can buy a sword as long as you're over 18. No license is required to buy it or carry it. Only rule at faire is that you have it schiethed (in a holder) while it's on you. I know most cops don't care about swords/axes/ect.. My friend Dov was pulled over once and he had almost all his weapons in the car. The officer asked "Do you have any weapons in the vehicle?" "Well, not guns or anything.. here, just look in the trunk" needless to say that officer was a bit shocked, but let him go since he's in (just told the officer verbally) a rennisance guild.

It's really only about 4 feet long and about a foot wide at the widest. Only weighs like 6 pounds, too... Kinda neat, but it's made almost entirely of aluminium.
As for the swords: yea.. pretty much. A friend of mine was pulled over by the cops 'cause he had a katana on him. Nearly got shot refusing to put it on the ground. (disrespectful to the blade) Fun times.
